Sightseeing
The Kenai Visitor’s Center is a great stop on a rainy day or just to learn more about the area. It has some excellent historical and nature displays for its size, and a video experience as well. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly!

This is one of the oldest buildings on the Kenai Peninsula, and still has a small active congregation. Russian Orthodoxy was one of the first Christian denominations to come to Alaska via the early Russian explorations. Just across the street from Veronica’s Cafe!!

Prince William Sound and the Kenai Fjords are amazing. I recommend one of the glacier cruises, simply amazing.

I love the SeaLife Center! Animal rehabilitation and education. Some great aquarium displays and very beautiful sea lion and sea bird tanks. If you’re going to Seward a must see!

The Refuge has a fun educational center and also some nice hikes! The rangers are all very helpful and incredibly knowledgeable folks. Great for exercise or a rainy day activity.

Quirky grocery warehouse with a surprising selection of foods that are hard to find in the area, as well as a liquor department. If you don’t want to go all the way to Kenai or Soldotna for groceries this is the place for you! It’s the closest grocery store to the Kenai River House.

Mel’s is independently owned and is the closest coffee shop to the RiverHouse. I go there all the time!!!. It has a variety of espressos and baked goods, and offers salads and paninis for lunch. They also have a little wine and charcuterie night many Tuesdays!
