Let's do the first shrine visit of the new year in Asakusa!
Since January 1st, Asakusa is full of the festive atmosphere of the New Year. In Sensoji Temple, first week in a new year is the most crowded. Many stores start business on New Year's Day, and tourists from all over not only Japan but also overseas gather there. If you don't want to get caught in crowd, it is recommended to go after three days.

Visiting to the Seven Lucky Gods is an event that people visit the temples and shrines which enshrine the Seven Lucky Gods during the New Year and pray for thriving business, family safety, fertile harvest, and longevity. It will takes 6 km and 4 hours. When you visit there, be sure to get the scarlet seal of each temple and shrine.

The day before the first day of every spring is Japanese Bean-Throwing Festival (Setsubun). In Japan, each home prepare soybeans. At night, people wish for the happiness of the whole family by throwing beans around the house. The Setsubun festival in Senso-ji temple is famous in Tokyo, so athletes and celebrities participate the event every year.

Nagashibina is a ceremony in which disasters that can befall children are imbued in human-shaped dolls made of paper or plant material, and people will throw it into the river and pray for the child to be disease-free and disaster-free. The ceremony has been practiced since the middle of the Heian Period, nearly thousand years ago from now.
Every year, the 1,500 people from a pool of applicants are allowed to participate in the ceremony. Kids from the Taito Ward Ishihama Hachiba Children Center are allowed to partake in their own ceremony and release Nashibina-Dolls before the main event.
In addition, Taito Ward’s mayor, members of the Asakusa Tourism Federation, and Famous Furisode-san, a women dressed in Kimono,in Asakusa will release dove-shaped balloons into the air.

流しびなは、子どもの災厄を紙や草木で作った人形に託し、川や海に流して祓い浄め、子どもの無病息災を願う日本古来の伝統行事で今から約1,000年前の平安時代の中期がその起原と言われています
当日は、公募による一般参加の方1500名が参加しますが、それに先駆けた特別参加として、《親水テラス》からは「台東区立石浜橋場こども園」園児の皆さんが流しびなを行います。
また、それと同時に台東区長、浅草観光連盟会長をはじめ、浅草名物の振り袖さんによるハト型風船の放天も行います。

江户漂流人偶是将纸做的人偶流入河中，祈求孩子无病无灾的传统仪式。每年的江户漂流节，公开招募的1500人可以免费流放纸人。人偶漂流节前后也是日本著名的女儿节，浅草街头会遇见更多的穿和服的日本儿童，她们振袖的步姿非常漂亮，给街头增添了一份绚烂。

Cherry Blossom Festival in Sumida Park
You can see nice view of Tokyo Sky Tree with cherry blossoms from Sumida River. It is a great spring scene in Asakusa!
People cannot help taking photos of beautiful cherry blossom photos. There are approximately 640 cherry blossom trees in Sumida River Park.
Also, you can see many different kinds of cherry blossom trees such as Yoshino, weeping cherry, and Yama.
It is recommended that you take a water bus and a houseboat because you can enjoy different views of the cherry blossoms along the Sumida River.

In November 1968, a memorial ceremony was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of Tokyo. It was initiated by the Asakusa Tourism Alliance.
The Shirasagi no mai (dance of the egrets) refers to the Sagi mai, a ceremonial parade in Yasaka Shrine, Kyoto. The Sagi mai was really famous as the event for exorcism.
In Asakusa, the parade is performed with 8 egrets, a dancer swinging a stick, 3 warriors, 19 musiciana, an umbrellas holder, and kindergarteners will dance as guardian children. All performers wear Japanese traditional clothes in the Teian Perrion.

昭和43年に東京100年祭りを記念として浅草観光が始めた行事です。白鷺の舞(しらさぎのまい)は京都の八坂神社で行われる鷺舞を参考にしています。京都の鷺舞は悪疫退散のために奉納された昔は非常に有名な行事でした。
浅草では8名の白鷺と1名の棒振り、3名の武者、楽人19名、大傘1名、浅草寺幼稚園の園児が守護童子になって踊りながら一巡をします。平安時代の衣装を身にまとって周る様子はとっても見応えがありますよ。

1968年11月为了纪念东京建都100周年进行的纪念仪式。是由浅草观光联盟首创的。据说这场活动取自浅草寺庆安缘起绘卷中的祭典游行。在珍贵绘卷所描绘的迁座供养（迁移神佛的座位，在灵前供奉物品，祈求死者冥福的仪式）祭典队列里，就可以看到白鹭之舞的身影。队伍里有武士、挥棒者、撒饵人、大伞、白鹭、乐师、守护童子等人，都模仿白鹭造型的平安时期服装，在游行中翩翩起舞。

Yabusame in Asakusa
It was taken place as a famous traditional event on the New Year’s Day in Asakusa.
Yabusame is Japanese style horseback archery.
It was originally born from the bloody killing of warriors on the battlefield as a representative of the ancient Japanese horseman movement in Japan. However, after a thousand year, shooting an arrow on a horse is not for attacking the castle, but for peace to pray.
An archer, dressed in hunting gear, spurs his horse into a gallop while shooting his arrows.
The event is really popular and filled with many people on the day.
The advanced ticket will sold out in March. It will be hard to see Yabusame without the ascanved ticket. It is recommended to reserve an admission ticket in advance.

浅草流鏑馬は江戸時代は正月の有名な行事として浅草神社で行われていました。狩装束を着て馬に乗ったまま的に向かって矢を放ちます。浅草流鏑馬はかなりの人気で、会場は当日すごく混雑します。3月頃から毎年前売り券を販売します。前売り券を持っていないと当日の観覧はなかなか難しいかもしれません。確実に見るなら当日券を購入することがベストです。

“流镝马”作为日本古代骑射运动的代表，虽然脱胎于武士在战场上的血腥厮杀，但经过千年时光的涤荡，骑马射箭不再是为了攻城拔寨，而是为了祈愿平安。
浅草流镝马会场当天会非常拥挤。每年3月左右开始预售当年的入场券。为了确保当天入场观看，建议提前预约入场券。

Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Procession
Every year on the second saturday of April, an intangible property "Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Procession" is held to convey the taste of Edo to the present age. On the Namiki-street, where Ichiyo Sakura (Yaeji Sakura) blooms beautifully, elementary school childrens who dress up like Geisha, will perform a live street show. Flea Market is also held there.
The splendid “Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Processioni” reproduces the Edo culture, and residents in the area will cooperate with experts such as the dancers, the make-up artists and the hair stylists in order to hold the traditional Procession.

江戸吉原おいらん道中
毎年4月第2土曜日に江戸の風情を現代に伝える無形財産「江戸吉原おいらん道中」が開催されます。一葉桜（八重桜）が美しく咲く並木道では、小学生のパレードやストリートショー、フリーマーケットなどが開催され、賑わいを見せています。華麗な「江戸吉原おいらん道中」は江戸文化を再現し、ダンス、メイク師、ヘアスタイリスト、衣装師など専門家の協力を得て、地元住民が出演します。

每年4月第2个周六举行、将江户风情传至现代的无形财产「江户吉原花魁游街」活动。在一叶樱（八重樱）美丽绽放的林荫道上，举办小学生游行、街头表演秀、跳蚤市场等活动，热闹非凡。华丽「花魁游街」再现江户文化，并邀请舞蹈界、化妆师、发型师、服装师等专业人士协助，由当地居民参与出演。

Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Procession
Every year on the second saturday of April, an intangible property "Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Procession" is held to convey the taste of Edo to the present age. On the Namiki-street, where Ichiyo Sakura (Yaeji Sakura) blooms beautifully, elementary school childrens who dress up like Geisha, will perform a live street show. Flea Market is also held there.
The splendid “Edo Yoshiwara Oiran-Dochu Processioni” reproduces the Edo culture, and residents in the area will cooperate with experts such as the dancers, the make-up artists and the hair stylists in order to hold the traditional Procession.

Sensoji Temple hold Sanja Matsuri Festival for 3 days in third weekend, May. It started in 1312 and has a history of over 700 years.
Over 30 organizations participate the festival. You will see many portable shrines everywhere such as Nakamise-dori street and alleys in Asakusa.
It is one of the famous festival in Tokyo; therefore, bout 1.5 million tourists come to see the festival every year.

The fireworks display represents the summer of Japan. The Sumida River Fireworks Festival has a history since 1733. Also, it is the large fireworks in the Kanto area of Japan. It is one of the most famous fireworks displays for the Japanese.
The fireworks display was held at two venues, and about 22,000 fireworks are being fired in this festival.
You can see beautiful fireworks from Tokyo Sky Tree or enjoy seeing them with Tokyo Sky tree as a background. and the fireworks will bloom in the sky.

“Tori-no-Ichi”, a festival of Ohtori Shrine in Asakusa, is held a couple times every November since the Edo era. Same festival is held in Hanazono shrine in Shinjuku Ward, Kitano Shrine in Nakano Ward, Ebara Shrine in Shinagawa Ward.
Tori-no-Ichi Festival is a festival that takes place in some temples in Tokyo. It is held to pray for good luck and good business.
In Asakusa, Tori-no-Ichi is held at Choukoku temple and Ohtori Shrine. Tori-no-Ichi has been around since the Edo era. Inside of a temple or shrine is decorated with gold and silver rake (a rake-shaped fortune). People enjoy Tori-no-Ichi until midnight on the day.
Tori-no-Ichi is the best place to experience the local Edo style in downtown during early winter.
