Check out some of the awesome places to visit while in Port Macquarie!
This is the best Japanese in Port Macquarie. The food is always fresh and tasty. The seafood is delicious and it boast an awesome chicken teriyaki and udon noodle soup! You need to book though as it is very popular. Only a 2 minute drive away or a 30 minute walk along the coast. Our favourite place for a meal.

If you love strawberries, Ricardos offers you the pleasure of picking your own plump, luscious strawberries. What a great way to spend an afternoon if the weather is overcast.
Enjoy their famous Devonshire tea and freshly baked scones. They also have the most divine tomatoes. Only 10 minutes outside of Port Macquarie. My kids love this place :)

Ricardoes Tomatoes
221 Blackmans Point RdIf you love strawberries, Ricardos offers you the pleasure of picking your own plump, luscious strawberries. What a great way to spend an afternoon if the weather is overcast.
Enjoy their famous Devonshire tea and freshly baked scones. They also have the most divine tomatoes. Only 10 minutes outside of Port Macquarie. My kids love this place :)
This is a fantastic place to visit our endangered koalas. You can visit the Koala Hospital anytime between 8:00am and 4:30pm. Entry is free.
Alternatively there are guided tours ( for a gold coin donation) at 3pm every day when the koalas are fed. Well worth the visit.

Flynns Book Cafe
Literally a five minute walk from our little beach cottage! It is a protected, patrolled beach during the summer months. There is a fabulous cafe “Sandbox” on the beach that serves the best pancakes and ice-cream plus bacon and egg roll 🙂They make great coffees and milk shakes.
This is a spectacular walk along the coast. You'll wind around the coastline visiting Town Beach, Rocky Beach, Flynns Beach, Shelley Nobby’s Beach and Lighthouse Beach.
You can break the walk up into shorter sections if you prefer by stopping for a cup of coffee at the many cafes along the beach. There are ample opportunities to cool off with a refreshing swim.
The walk can be divided into four sections:
- Westport to Town Beach (2km)
- Town Beach to Flynns Beach (2.2km)
- Flynns Beach to Shelly Beach (2.2km)
- Shelly Beach to Tacking Point (2.7km)

Our favourite is the crocodile show with " Shrek" as the superstar. It is a cute little zoo that can be down in 2-4 hours depending on how much you want to see.

We went on a $20pp sunset cruise.It is a fantastic budget way to see the waterways around Port Macquarie at sunset. If you are lucky you can see flying fish and pods of dolphins. BYO drinks and nibbles. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon before heading off to dinner.

74 Clarence StWe went on a $20pp sunset cruise.It is a fantastic budget way to see the waterways around Port Macquarie at sunset. If you are lucky you can see flying fish and pods of dolphins. BYO drinks and nibbles. Such a fun way to spend an afternoon before heading off to dinner.
Romantic dinner for two. This place is definitely a special occasion venue. Food is stunning and the service is impeccable. A great place to indulge in the fine dining modern Australian cuisine. The oysters are amazing!!

A short drive to the Lighthouse from our cottage. It is the best place for dolphin and whale watching. The scenery is breathtaking!! There are no food / drink options, it's just about soaking in the scenery and enjoying the sea salt air.

Mouthwatering woodfire pizzas made by Enzo and his team. This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the cottage (opposite Flynn’s beach). The tiramisu is perhaps a the best we have ever had. Outdoor dining available.
