This place is a local institution! Since its opening in 1989, Sandra Webster, the owner of Nessy Burgers, has had her beef supplied by a local supermarket in Fallbrook. The beef patties used in her perfect Cheeseburgers are made from a special blend of premium chuck and sirloin beef. Only Sandra and her butchers know this special formulation. Ground fresh every morning, the beef is assembled in ten pound batches and special seasonings are added. This too is Sandra's secret. The Nessy team is frequently asked by its customers, "Is this beef patty a recipe?" Well, it most certainly is! In addition to the beef being ground ultra-fresh early each morning, every ½ pound burger patty is hand-made and individually weighed! Nessy's beef possesses no fillers or preservatives and the beef is never frozen. The only additive is Sandra's secret blend of herbs and spices. She knew that the highest quality beef patty was essential for the perfect hamburger.
Sandra did not stop with the perfect burger patty... After much experimentation, Sandra developed the most excellent of sauces that is spread deliciously over the burgers. Then, Sandra began her search for the finest sesame seed bun; she found it and her bread man calls on the restaurant every day. Next, she turned her attention to the toppings: The burgers are topped with slices from perfectly-ripe juicy jumbo tomatoes, crisp sweet onions (grilled upon request) and only the finest leaves from hand broken Iceberg lettuce. For the final touch, every Nessy Burger comes with premium quality American cheese, and the best sliced jalapeno peppers are offered on the side. Umm Good!!

Keep an eye out or you'll miss it because it is set back a bit from the road. There is an antique shop/village next door off the same parking lot.

Keep an eye out or you'll miss it because it is set back a bit from the road. There is an antique shop/village next door off the same parking lot.
Very good taco shop for take-out or delivery (Doordash). Food is made to order and much better than the strip mall location would suggest. Dine-in is available but it is more of a take-out location. Highly recommended.

I only mention this McDonald's because it is the closest food to your Airbnb, just two miles away. Go straight across Hwy 76 from Camino del Rey and it is on the right behind the ARCO station. It is what it is, but if you just want to grab something familiar, this is it.

This Subway is seldom busy and very close to your Airbnb. I've never been disappointed with the sandwiches here. It is located in the small shopping center with the post office off Hwy 76.

Many western people search for spiritual sustenance in a world beset by political, economic, and social turmoil. We’ve realized that the spiritual practices handed down to us from our parents and grandparents, don’t work for us anymore. We’ve been raised to believe that this current life is nothing more than preparation for the afterlife and that the kingdom of heaven awaits all those who follow the rules of our forebears. After the social upheavals that took place in the 60’s and 70’s, our generation and all those that followed began a search for real answers to the urgent questions of the day. Why was there war, famine, and pestilence? Why have our leaders failed us and pursued narrow self-interest, rather than the greater good of the people? And why have our religious leaders failed in helping us to rear our children, often in ways that we could never have imagined even 15 years ago?
The Buddhism that we practice at Dai Dang Meditation Center does not purport to give us answers to all these questions. We do not guarantee that our efforts will change the world for the better overnight, and eliminate the problems that have plagued us since we became “civilized” human beings some 10,000 years ago. We offer you the entry to a spiritual path that will move you toward the Enlightenment that the Buddha experienced after 6 years of wandering, meditation, self-abnegation, and finally the liberation from suffering that he found under the Bodhi Tree when he was 30 years old.
Please join us on this path of self-discovery, learn how to alleviate your own suffering then work on the liberation of others from their suffering. Some people think this trail is only a mile because they stop where the pavement ends. You continue on, passing some residential house/fencing along the dirt path. When you see the fork, go left (going up is residential housing). You continue until it's too overgrown to pass. Parking is minimal and there are no restrooms.

This relatively flat trail is safe for all age groups, is completely separate from motorized traffic, and is free of stop signs and traffic lights.
Fun Fact: Before the San Luis Rey Bike Trail was paved, it was once used as a private railway by the military to move cargo along the river.
