My mom says that a plate full of good food wipes out all your worries and brings back the joy. If you enjoy food not just as a nutritional source but see it as your daily need of happiness follow my lead.
Whenever me and my friends wonder where to have a good dinner we end up in one of the three SkaraBars - one of my favorite places to eat. It has the soul of the traditional Bulgarian grill (SkaraBar means "grill bar"), but the looks of the modern urban food spot. That good food and wine do not necessarily have to be incomprehensibly complex and expensive is the thing I like best in this place. I am never disappointed. Meat is their key character (ribs!) supported by typical Bulgarian salads and dips, and of course their fantastically crispy, herby, freshly made potato chips. :)

Literally the restaurant is hosted by a beautiful, 140 years old, blue house. For me, every time I walk into their garden or enter in one of their rooms is like going inside a fairy-tale - a promise of mysterious story or a hidden secret. As if Tim Burton was hired to do the interior, almost animated, but at the same time arty and retro. I can't explain the food there, except for one word - tasty! It is a mixture of what you think you know, but find out you had no idea. The menu is short and seasonal and totally affordable. It has just a pinch of the pretentiousness of a fancy restaurant sprinkled over wholesome meals and full plates. Do not miss!

These guys reinvented my entire approach towards street food. Thanks to them two things happened. One - I eat a lot less (a lot less!) fast food, because I became more aware, and two - they convinced me that preparing a good sandwich is no less easier than cooking the perfect souffle. Pulled pork, classic veal burger, fresh potato fries, caramelized onions and real (real!!!) cheddar - you name it. Add to that more crispy bacon and a small very tasty craft beer and dive into the 'abliss'. :)
p.s. Don't forget to tell the boys how you prefer your meat - rare, medium or well done.

One - I eat a lot less (a lot less!) fast food, because I became more aware, and two - they convinced me that preparing a good sandwich is no less easier than cooking the perfect souffle. Troyantsite is like a very good old friend that you don't meet everyday, but you know you can count on. I go there when I need a quite place to hide for a while and recharge with something tasty. The old waiter who looks like he has been there all his life will spare you the usual restaurant servile manner which I definitely consider a priceless feature these days. His sense of humor is always to the point as well as his readiness to recommend the daily specialties. The food is gorgeous and mainly traditional with a bit of modern touch here and there. The lunch menu has soups and is always fresh and ready to serve immediately after the order. That's all you need.

Troyantsite is like a very good old friend that you don't meet everyday, but you know you can count on. I go there when I need a quite place to hide for a while and recharge with something tasty. The old waiter who looks like he has been there all his life will spare you the usual restaurant servile manner which I definitely consider a priceless feature these days. His sense of humor is always to the point as well as his readiness to recommend the daily specialties. The food is gorgeous and mainly traditional with a bit of modern touch here and there. The lunch menu has soups and is always fresh and ready to serve immediately after the order. That's all you need.
'Mediterraneo' is just a step higher when it comes to food quality and price, but! Don't worry. It's all you can get from a classic Mediterranean cousin - casual and simple, and at the same time cosy in its fanciness. Don't dress up when you go there, or do - your choice. I have a close circle of friends "Sex and the city"-style and this is our place. Sunday late afternoons started on coffee overflow into early nights with wine in front of the fireplace. I can go on :)) The restaurant also offers separate saloons in the old house where smoking is allowed.
p.s. My boyfriend is very picky when it comes to eating outside. Mediterraneo grabbed his heart and trust me that says a lot.
