Our recommendations

A comprehensive guide to the area and some of our personal favourites can be found on our website www.swiss4seasons.com Lauterbrunnen tourist office are fantastic & have the best, up to date information of anything/everything in the area. We recommend contacting them ahead of your stay, especially if you are travelling in low season for current information. We have lots of favourite cafes, restaurants etc. But we struggle to find anywhere that compares to eating on our patio! Nothing beats a platter of local cheese, hams and a bottle of wine overlooking the waterfall! Many of the places we like to visit aren't listed on google maps so I'm afraid won't appear in this guidebook. But isn't that part of the charm of visiting Lauterbrunnen?!!! Our top tip would be to eat main meal at lunchtime and look out for the Tageskarte or Tageshit (daily special)

Switzerland isn't renowned for its fish but I love to visit here- usually for their lunch time special menu of Eggli ( a local small fish straight out the Thunersee) fillets & boiled potatoes. Love the walk from here to Spiez along the lake. Great playgrounds in Faulensee.

Our number one go to whether it's fresh bread in the morning.... difficult to bypass the chocolate croissants. Great little supermarket that is surprisingly well stocked Highly recommended restaurant Weidstübli (by us & our guests) & bar that is open year round. Huge portions.Local rosti , great pizza. Essential to prebook. Takeaway too. Don't miss the folklore Abend which takes place during the summer months- lots of dancing, bell ringing, alpine horns , yodelling & more!

Our favourite go to restaurant and it’s on the doorstep! Just across the bridge from our apartment. Booking essential as very popular with locals and visitors alike!
