In my opinion the best restaurant in Canmore for lunch and dinner. Extraordinary food and a great wine list. It is pricey, but lunch is a great way to try their amazing food without breaking the bank. And a secret tip is the afternoon happy hour menu from 3-5pm!

A local's favourite and the best breakfast in town. The huevos rancheros are to die for! This place is a 10 minute walk from the apartment, and away from the more touristy areas, so you get a real sense of how the locals live. It is very busy, so early is better. Line ups are common, but it turns people over fairly quickly. There's a great outdoor patio for the warmer months.

Always a great place for lunch and dinner, Murrieta's now offers an outstanding breakfast 10am - 3pm on weekends. My personal favourite is the eggs Benedict, but the avocado smash looks awesome too!

By far the best pizza in town! Only a ten minute walk uphill from Falcon Crest, and hidden away in Canmore suburbia, you can eat in at Red Rock, or call them and have your pizza delivered. Their pizzas include the classics, but also some different offerings. My fave is the True North!

Blake is right outside Grande Rockies Resort, and has an incredible patio in the summer. It is a 5 minute walk from most of our accommodations in Canmore.
If you are fussy about your coffee, this is the best place to visit! My personal favourite is the flat white, but everything is great here. They also have a great lunch menu (including meat pies for all the Aussies and Kiwi's out there!). This is the coffee we stock in all our units, for the very good reason that it is the best in town.

1516 Bow Valley TrailIf you are fussy about your coffee, this is the best place to visit! My personal favourite is the flat white, but everything is great here. They also have a great lunch menu (including meat pies for all the Aussies and Kiwi's out there!). This is the coffee we stock in all our units, for the very good reason that it is the best in town.

New to Canmore, and tucked away in the industrial area, this brewery is worth a visit if you like craft beer. There's no food here, just drinks, so if you prefer your beer with food you can get Canmore Brewing Co beer at many restaurants and bars in town.

A lovely introduction to hiking in Canmore that suits all abilities. Only a few minutes out of town, and a relatively short hike that rewards you with two beautiful blue lakes and an amazing view of the Bow Valley. And if you like rock climbing (either to watch or participate) there's tonnes on the go at Grassi Lakes. This is a popular trail so if you seek peace and quiet, it's probably a little busy for you. But it's a great walk nevertheless, and a great way to acclimatize yourself to our altitude without too much exertion.

If you are looking for a tougher hike in town than Grassi Lakes, you may enjoy this one. Grab a coffee from Summit Cafe, and head up the hill for a steep climb to the top of the tree line (there's an old helipad to sit on) or right to the top of the mountain. Bear spray is a necessity. It's a solid 2 hours to the top, rewarded by great views of Canmore and the Bow Valley, and all within town limits.

Our local recreation centre offers a great indoor climbing gym, 2 indoor pools (complete with lazy river and water slides) and plenty of things to while away the time on a rainy or extra cold day.

You can hire discs at Trail Sports on-site, or buy them cheap downtown at Sports Experts. If you don't want quite such a challenging option, try the disc golf course at Three Sisters. Located on Riva Heights, it is 9 easy holes, and it's wide open. There is still wildlife up there - bears and elk are common, but it is not as risky as the Nordic Centre if you don't have bear spray.
