Our Favorite Restaurants
There are so many wonderful restaurants in Columbus it’s hard to go wrong. These are the places close by The Corner House that we personally frequent and love:
Northstar is an incredibly quality and consistent cafe. It’s our go-to, favorite restaurant. The Northstar burger is an amazing veggie burger that even non vegetarians will appreciate. And the Niman Ranch Cheeseburger is our favorite beef burger. The sweet potato fries are an awesome side! Ask for a couple sides of cayenne aioli as a dip for your sweet potato fries. And the fresh ginger-ale is unreal! We also love the Buddha Bowl, the Fiore Pizza with prosciutto, the Chicken Avocado Sandwich, and the Fish Sandwich. Northstar is also one of the best breakfast spots in the city! We prefer the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and the Big Burrito. You honestly can’t go wrong.

Brassica was opened by the owners of Northstar. It’s a Chipotle style eatery for Mediterranean cuisine. Everything is fresh, organic, and as quality as it comes. You can park in the garage across the street from Brassica or take an Uber or scooter from the Corner House. Brassica is a small restaurant that’s typically packed and I’ve yet to talk with someone who doesn’t love it!

Nidas doesn’t have quite the service as Northstar, but it’s our favorite place in the Short North for Thai cuisine. Our go to dishes are the Pad Thai or Gan Kua Curry.

The Guild House is the only restaurant on this list that requires a little dressing up for dinner. I’m not sure they have a dress code, but it’s a nice enough restaurant you’d feel out of place if you weren’t dressed at least business casual. The Guild House

Tasi is open for breakfast and is a great value. The french toast with caramelized bananas is delicious and they have the best biscuits and gravy we’ve had. If you’re really hungry order the kid-sized french toast and a half portion of the biscuits and gravy and you can try both for a surprisingly low price.

Hot Chicken Takeover serves Nashville style hot chicken and it’s really good! They have another restaurant in Clintonville but we’d suggest going to the North Market location for lunch if you can!

Our Go To Coffee and Treat Spots

This is our favorite coffee shop and it’s 6 blocks south of The Corner House on 4th St! All of their beverages are high end and consistent. But what really sets Fox in the Snow apart is the pastries. The Egg Sandwich is out of this world! The filled donut and the cinnamon roll are also killer. Whatever pastry you get will be one of the best versions of said pastry you’ve ever had. You can also watch the pastry chefs at work behind a glass wall.

Stauff’s in Grandview is our second favorite coffee shop and is about a 10 minute drive from The Corner House. It’s more of an old school coffee experience. The place smells amazing right when you walk in as they have dozens of barrels of coffee beans. We really enjoy their Highlander Grogg beans.

If you like cold pressed juice and healthy fare, Native is our favorite choice. One of our personal friends opened up Native a few years back. They also have a variety of other healthy, tasty treats and food. We personally love the Zinger.

Seventh Son is a great vibe and it’s only a few blocks south of the Corner house on Fourth Street. Seventh Son specializes in ales and IPAs and the have rotating food trucks parked out front.

Wolf’s Ridge is a restaurant, brewery, and tap room. They have a great reputation in the city and would be a great place to visit if you’re wanting to explore the downtown area of Columbus.

Things To Do in Columbus
There is SO much to do in Columbus besides eating and drinking (although there's nothing wrong with that either!)
Here are some fun things to keep you entertained during your visit to Columbus.
The Corner House is in Weinland Park which is on the outskirts of the Short North neighborhoods. The heart of the Short North is along the High St corridor starting at 5th ave and moving south until you get to the Columbus Convention Center. There are so many places to eat and shop in the Short North. You can make a day of exploring this neighborhood and be sure to check out Goodale Park if the weather is nice.

This place is so fun for kids (and adults) of all ages and you will not even come close to exploring the whole place in one visit.
The downtown branch of the Columbus library is less than 10 minutes away and a pretty cool spot with a great kids area, coffee shop, and lots of room to explore. Our kids love coming here and if it’s warm outside be sure and stop by the Topiary Gardens nearby.

The museum and its Center for Creativity are beloved by many and a great place to enjoy American and European modern art and contemporary art along with folk art, glass art, and photography. The museum is less than 10 minutes from The Corner House

German Village is probably the most unique neighborhood in Columbus and is less than 10 minutes from The Corner House. It’s old Bavarian style buildings and brick streets are really interesting to explore. Katzinger’s Delicatessen, Thurman Cafe, Schmidt’s, and Pistacia Vera are some iconic restaurants. Staufs is the place to go in German Village for coffee. Schiller Park is also a nice place to explore on the outskirts of German Village.

Whetstone’s Park of Roses is in the Clintonville neighborhood and is about a 10 minute drive from The Corner House. The roses will not disappoint in season. We were married at the Park of Roses in 2006 and we chose that location because we thought it was one of the most beautiful places in Columbus. Clintonville is also a wonderful neighborhood to explore along High St, but you probably want to start your walk around the intersection of North Broadway and High St which is a little south of the Park of Roses. Walking south from North Broadway you’ll find some great antique shops. And stop at Dough Mama for an awesome breakfast or lunch!
