Food Scene

Laid back weather worn open air bar and restaurant, directly on the beach. The one and only. It has stood the test of time and hurricanes! Average food, cold beer and a sandy, salty atmosphere!

Parks & Nature

Most people never make it to "The Back of the Island". There is a whole other waterfront world back there. A great place to fish along the channel, watch the ships go by and spot several dolphin. They love to play in the wake ahead of the bow of the big ships. The kids get so excited!

Island Made Art, Local Artwork, Working Artist Studio

This little shop, located in behind Castaway's Restaurant on Allister is run by two very artistic women that live here on the Island. Jane is a watercolor artist and Patti works mainly in acrylic. My Lazy Susan's are also available for sale here, as well as several other artist's work. A must see stop. I believe they open at 1 pm, and are closed on Sunday. Catch them if you can, and tell them that Janet sent them to visit!

Essentials

The public pool is a little gem that many people never find out about. The pool has a gentle walk in shallow end with all sorts of fun kid water features, a lap swimming area, and a deep water section for diving and deep water aerobics. There are chairs and shade areas to get out of the sun. Lifeguards are on duty, and...the pool is heated in the winter. This pool is one of my favorites!
