Food Scene
This Hammersmith café was set up by five friends. It should get quite a bit of custom from those heading to and from London Olympia – it's just over the road. Savoury items on the food menu include salads such as Thai beef with white cabbage, red onion, tomatoes and broccoli in a lime, ginger and soy dressing, and sandwiches filled with honey-roast ham, emmental, rocket and a honey-mustard dressing, or crayfish with sliced avocado rocket and lemon mayo. Breakfasts sandwiches and pastries also feature.
Sweets include praline and toffee and pecan cheesecakes alongside tiramisu, a dark chocolate and chantilly slice and a strawberry and Champagne mousse.

There's a traditional, classic look to this restaurant at the St Paul's Hotel in Hammersmith - the kind of look of which fastidious old schoolmasters might approve. That could come in handy, given the hotel is located in a former school, one designed by the architect of the National History Museum, no less.
It was also where Eisenhower, Montgomery and Churchill met to plan the D-Day landings. Had they waited a bit they could have tucked into The Melody's menu of crab lasagne with a crab and ginger bisque, soya and sesame marinated yellow fin tuna, roasted monkfish wrapped in pancetta and braised short rib of beef with horseradish mash and bone marrow gratin.

The Melody

Following a launch of Bistro Mirey in Fulham in January, Bistro Mirey's quest to revolutionizing the French and Japanese cuisine continues with its original take on Sapporo ramen (8/03/2018), miso based broth with wavy noddles with additional Tonkontsu base to create even richer and tastier broth and bento boxes (take away), the boxes wil be available in 3 varieties, meat, fish, vegetarian. (Mid March). Teriyaki burgers available with smoked pork or tofu for our vegetarian friends.

Flower-filled exterior aside, there’s nothing fancy about this local favourite. From the well-worn furniture to the order-at-the-bar chalkboard menu, it’s all very familiar. In summer, outside is the place to be, a young after-work crowd spilling into the good-sized courtyard. Inside, with its candlelit tables and open fireplace, is more suited to cosy winter catch-ups, the homely vibe only tarnished by the undeniable whiff of bleach. The food has a homespun feel too, with portions on the massive side and a Mediterranean-inspired menu that may not be particularly inventive, but is generally appealing with a good range of seafood, steak and pasta dishes.

In summer, outside is the place to be, a young after-work crowd spilling into the good-sized courtyard. Inside, with its candlelit tables and open fireplace, is more suited to cosy winter catch-ups, the homely vibe only tarnished by the undeniable whiff of bleach. The food has a homespun feel too, with portions on the massive side and a Mediterranean-inspired menu that may not be particularly inventive, but is generally appealing with a good range of seafood, steak and pasta dishes.
