Housed in a bunker-like former snooker hall, the downstairs convenience store is a world of gleaming white tiles and bright lighting, while the dining room upstairs is a more sophisticated affair with low lighting, leather banquettes and retro fittings.
The ambitious menu aims to please all palates with anything from simple cheeseburgers to chargrilled lamb with sweet red pepper sauce, yoghurt drizzle, a scattering of coriander and chopped pistachios on offer.

If you’re wondering whether this is the pizza place where Macaulay Culkin’s band played, then you’d be right. The ‘Home Alone’ star’s troupe did try out some of their pizza-themed Velvet Underground numbers here.
Luckily the pizza went down better than the rest of The Pizza Underground’s tour, so the crowd won’t be booing these dough pies.
They’re served fresh from the oven in either 12-inch or 18-inch stonebaked sourdough rounds. Toppings range from classic margherita to the meat-tastic ‘Full House’, with pepperoni, spicy ground beef and flavoursome slices of own-made fennel sausage.

And we would shake our head. Not in regret, but at that awful, awful pun. Thankfully that won’t happen because My Neighbour The Dumplings is a restaurant, and a bloody fine one at that. The har gau (prawn) and shu mai (prawn and pork) dumplings are the sort of things you could very easily eat on a daily basis. There’s a bar downstairs which means you can easily spend an evening here. That sounds like a good idea to us.

My Neighbours the Dumplings

The har gau (prawn) and shu mai (prawn and pork) dumplings are the sort of things you could very easily eat on a daily basis. There’s a bar downstairs which means you can easily spend an evening here. That sounds like a good idea to us.
Uchi is a sort of humble Japanese restaurant that does very nice sashimi, nigiri and rolls. There are hot things too - like yakitori and kara-age - and all in all it’s a solid neighbourhood option.

There's an ever-rotating spread of home cooking to sample (don't miss the Proper Northern Roast on Sunday) and a fine choice of cider, ales and infused gins to guzzle.
