For breakfast this place is simply the best! You will get the Full English and more. Its run by an ex-paratrooper. The seating area is small but its well worth going if you want the works.

This is a relatively new restaurant in Hythe but it's been a huge success. The service is slow but only because everything is cooked freshly before your eyes. The food is mainly Turkish and utterly delicious.

The premier cathedral in the country and it is stunning. Steeped in history with connections to the history of New Testament Christianity. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from Hythe.

Dungeness is fascinating. I always expect to see a Peggotty from Charles Dickens's David Copperfield walking towards me. The place is a rambling village on the beach. There is nothing quite like it anywhere else. There is no order or design - it appears to have bypassed the planning system!
Good grub at the pub and also at the RHDR Restaurant.

Rye is a stunning town built on a hill, 40 minutes drive across Romney Marsh. It is full of beautiful houses and proper shops - not chains. The church has an amazing bell tower with a regular show! Rye is well worth a visit any day of the week.

Another very pretty town full of character and history. The get there involves a beautiful drive through the stunning Weald. Take the cross country route rather than the main roads via Ashford.

The home of the Governors of the Cinque Port Towns and where Wellington died. Walmer Castle is homely while being full of history. It has beautiful gardens and is a great day out. Just beyond Walmer is Deal with its famous seafront.

Dover Castle is magnificent. The cental keep has been decorated and furnished as it would have been in the time of Richard II. That is an eyeopener. The World War II war rooms are also there looking out over the English Channel. Fascinating!

Farthing Common is passed on route from Hythe to Canterbury on the B2068 - Stone Street - the old Roman Road. The views across the North Downs and Weald of Kent are absolutely breathtaking on a fine day.

Leeds Castle has to be seen. It is totally romantic in the most wonderful setting. It takes about 40 minutes to drive there from Hythe. The surrounding grounds and gardens are beautiful at all times of year.
Live music concerts are hosted here from time to time.

Broadstairs is a little jewel sitting where it does on the coast where North Kent meets East Kent. It is a lovely seaside town with a very pretty sandy bay. Lots of lovely places to eat and to have fun. Its great for children.

Sissinghurst Castle is a National Trust estate. It was the home of Vera Sackville-West and Harold Nicholson. It has the famous White Garden designed by Vera and the garret in the tower where she wrote. The gardens are stunning and not to be missed. Open From March to October. It has a fine restaurant cooking food from the castle gardens. Vera and Harold's grandson, the author Adam Nicholson, lives at the castle now with his wife Sarah Raven, the gardening writer.

Romney Marsh is a wonderful place for birdwatchers. It is a large expanse of reclaimed land. The light is wonderful and the lanes across the marsh lead to pretty villages and quaint churches. I love the Marsh.

The church also regularly hosts music concerts so it is worth looking at the church notice board.
