Our local park run by the Council is a beautiful spot not to be missed. There are many forest walks as well as the main paths created by the Parks board. There is a small zoo and a playground for children in the zoo as well as in the Park. Open grassed areas for picnics as well.

Sightseeing
Paritutu Rock forms part of an old volcanic crater. You can hike up the Rock - takes about 15-20 minutes up. It is steep near the top, but the Council has provided chains along the climb to help. Small children will need to be supported as the top section requires a bit of rock climbing. Stunning view of the city of New Plymouth and Mount Taranaki on a clear day. And if super clear - in the distance Mount Ruapehu.
