manuel Vigeland's Museum at Slemdal is one of Oslo's best kept secrets. The museum's main attraction is a dark, barrel-vaulted room, completely covered with fresco paintings. The 800 sq.m. fresco Vita depicts human life from conception till death, in dramatic and often explicitly erotic scenes. Entering the museum is a unique experience. The impression of the dimly lit frescoes with multitudes of naked figures is reinforced by the unusual and overwhelming acoustics of the room. Emanuel Vigeland (1875-1948) erected the building in 1926, intended as a future museum for his sculptures and paintings. Conserts /great accoustic. Really nice hike in the forest. Take tram nr 1 to the last stop. Follow signs to Ullevålseter , have a cinnamon roll, and follow signs to Sognsvann. From there take the tram back to Majorstua. About 3 hrs. For a shorter hike stop at Tryvannstua ( on the way to Ullevållseter), and take the same way back to Frognerseteren.

The name KOK stems from the same word as “cook” in english. It points to the sauna being boiling hot, but also to the phrase “it’s cooking in here” as a way of describing a good vibe. Our sauna is rented in its entirety and can accommodate up to 10 people. You can either choose to rent the floating sauna while at the dock, or with a captain for a cruise on the fjord.
At the sauna raft guests are greeted by our friendly sauna host and lifeguard. The sauna host will give you a brief introduction to the raft and its sauna, provide wood and water for the oven and be available to answer any

The Astrup Fearnley Collection is a collection of modern and contemporary art counted among the most significant of its kind in Northern Europe. The museum complements works from the permanent collection by rotating exhibitions with internationally renowned artists.
The collection focuses on acquiring individual, ground-breaking works. Young American artists used to dominate, but significant voices from Europe, Brazil, Japan, China, and India are now included.
The museum building is designed by the renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. It is made up of three pavilions that reside under one distinctive glass roof, which is shaped like a sail. The building nods to its maritime surroundings
