Food Scene

This cool American Bistro is a block from my house and a hidden gem. The owner chefs are formerly from the Jose Garces group, the king of the Philly culinary scene. It's a BYOB and the place other than great food offers a very personal dining experience. Hospitality is #1 there. Try the Lancaster Chicken in the evening. Great brunch too!

THE place to have breaky in Philly. On the Italian Market, early birds are rewarded with quick seating and inventive deliciousness. The food is BIG here at breakfast so come hungry. Get there before 10 or after 1 for breakfast or brunch or if you're trying for the 10:30 sweet spot, put your name on the list, grab a cuppa and be patient.

You can't come through Philly and not get something from Isgros. Located on the Italian Market, this place is an institution. Try the mascarpone cannoli dipped in chocolate on each end or sample some Italian cookies. Easter and Christmas in Philly calls everyone home to this place where lines can stretch half a block to get into the tiny bakery.

Walk into 1880's Paris at Beau Monde and enjoy savory crepes from Normandy. Good at any time, this is a hidden brunch spot when all the others are full. Imaginative combinations and classic French sides in an intimate atmosphere including fireplace make this one of my favorites. Dessert crepes are not to be missed. Impress your date, come here.
