Nice chilled out place with lots of seats. Decent breakfast/lunch menu and solidly good coffee. Nice decor. It does get busy at weekends.

Nice little restaurant close-by. They do a really good value 2 course lunch menu for £12 every day. It's a really nice, local, good value place. Booking recommended, especially for lunch.

A good stop for ice-cream on a sunny day. They make everything in house and I can confirm that the chocolates, cakes and hot chocolate are all excellent as well.

One of my favourites in Edinburgh. Really delicious tacos and other Mexican "street food". A good range of tequilas and some frozen margaritas. Pretty small and they don't take bookings but it's always worth checking out. There is a good cocktail bar to wait in across the street. It's also a good location on Thistle St.

This place opened in protest of a chain supermarket opening in place of the old delicatessen. Try and buy here if you can. :)

A cool bar that has good music and sometimes a tiny dance floor/stage. It can be bit of a hip crowd sometimes and can get really busy. But it's pretty much guaranteed to be a good night when you end up at Palms.
