You can go here by taking the pond from central station to buiksloterweg(this is free). This Is also a nice way to discover some hidden places of Amsterdam.

If you want to go local, you go to this market. Half of it is biological products other half are vintage clothes and furniture.
Next to this market you have Winkel34 where they have the best apple cake of the Netherlands. You have to wait in line though :). It’s only open on Saturday until 4 o’clock.

This is one of the most beautiful areas of Amsterdam. It is walkable but I would consider renting a bike so you have enough energy to stroll around this area.
Check out Haarlemmerstraat for shops. Tweede tuindwarstraat for little boutiques. From here you can walk to Anne Frank museum and see more and more of the real Amsterdam
