Osteria Vecchia is simply "da Nilo" (at Nilo's), after the owner himself. This beloved local favorite offers fresh seasonal and regional dishes, superb homemade pastas, it's all delicious food and great value for money. Our last lunch there was in June 2016 and the ravioli and the lamb chops just delicious. The pici aglione had the intense garlic flavor that I crave for! Pici is the local pasta, a long hand-rolled spaghetti. Closed Tuesdays in low season only. Seating outside on the terrace at the main entry (best place for views over the piazza), and more tables al fresco around at the back of the restaurant. Inside is a classy dining room. Can get busy so reservations are a must.

Osteria del Merlo is a superb restaurant. It opened just a few years ago, and has already carved out a reputation amongst the Italian foodies. Located at the south-east corner of Piazza Garibaldi, just around the corner from the cafe, you see a large stone tower with covered outdoor seating deck, and inside you take a few steps down to a spacious high vaulted dining room at the base of the tower. A/c inside was welcome for our first lunch there in the hot days of August. Professional waiters offer smooth service and excellent wine list (also by the glass), but the star here is the magnificent Chef Elisa in the kitchen!

Located at the south-east corner of Piazza Garibaldi, just around the corner from the cafe, you see a large stone tower with covered outdoor seating deck, and inside you take a few steps down to a spacious high vaulted dining room at the base of the tower. A/c inside was welcome for our first lunch there in the hot days of August. This is a caffe bar that sells all kind of drinks, pastry and sandwithes, has lots of outdoor seating in the large piazza so its fund to people-watch. Evenings younger people gather for drinks, gossip, fun and music! Nothing is ever too much trouble for Debora and the welcoming staff, they always have a smile on their face.

This is a small supermarket, but it's the biggest we got in Cetona. They are well stocked so you can plan to do all your grocery shopping here. The carts are released by inserting a 1 Euro coin into the slot at the handlebar. You get the money back when you return the cart. See what locals do when shopping for fruit and veg: wear plastic glove, and weigh the fruit on the scale, punch the symbol and put on the price sticker. Just see how they do it. You need a number for deli counter service, most prices are for 100 grams = "etto". Open mornings and late afternoon, closed during siesta.
