The highest pub in England, famous for the everest double glazing ads. A wonderful drive up, up, up to the remote fell top. A great welcome, good ale and food. Amazing views and you never know who you might meet - many a celebrity pops in.

Follow a ginnel (alleyway) from the main street for peace and quiet by the river Eden. Frank's Bridge is a pack horse bridge crossing the river to the route to the Nine Standards and Coast to Coast path. A good place to feed the ducks (grain better than bread) and sit awhile by the young river.

Birdlife of every kind - Curlews, avocets, owls, birds of prey - just keep your eyes and ears open. Please be considerate to local farm animals who may be grazing the fells and horse riders travelling past.
