Kingston has 3 distinct neighborhoods: the Stockade (or Uptown) - the oldest part of the town, and the former state capital, home to boutiques, cafes and farmer's markets. Midtown - the business district. And the Rondout, the waterfront area down by the Rondout Creek is a historic maritime district. There you'll find the Trolley Museum, plenty of places to eat and a lovely walk along the water.

Saugerties is a lovely, sleepy town about a 20 minute drive from Woodstock along Rte 212. Plenty of antique and junk shops to browse, a historic lighthouse on the river to visit, even a town beach. Great little cafes and restaurants - my favorite is Miss Lucy's Kitchen.
Gorgeous little mountain town. Home to the famous Tinker Tubing, Catskill Mountain Railway and Sweet Sues - the best breakfast in the Catskills. Great stopping spot on a day trip up in the mountains. Loads of hiking trails head out from very near the town center.
