Best for its proximity to the Cottage, they have recently upgraded their lakeside patio. Sadly, food is barely adequate. Inside is a relic of another time. Check-out the bar for its Delft tiles, but best to go on a nice afternoon or evening for a cocktail. Some evenings will feature a singer/guitarist.

Great back country roads will lead you to this fun and festive winery. They offer wine tastings as well as have a delicious pizza and salad menu. Their cider is pretty good. Live music on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Bring a blanket and enjoy a sunny afternoon outside or hope for a table inside in the off-season. Two other wineries you might consider Applewood (small, occasional music, good cider) and Brotherhood (nice space).

For those looking for a moderately challenging hike, let's try the Surprise Lake Loop. It is an uphill walk with some rocky outcrops to get up. From the house, go down the hill, make a right, and go about 1.5 miles. A small parking lot will be on your right (some boats will be stored there too), just after the NY/NJ state line, across from the Greenwood Lake Marina. Follow the trail up Up UP! Fantastic views of the whole lake before you get to the lake. http://www.nynjtc.org/files/u1/PettyHJH_chp24-SurpriseLakeLoop.pdf
