If you're into a longer hike you can pick up this trail by walking down into Meanwood (15 mins) and take it from there. It also connects from the Hollies Park near us see above :)

Our favourite Park it connects to Meanwood Park through a great series of woody tracks in an aboretum fantasy-like world - was a Victorian mansion family who bequeathed the whole thing to Leeds City Council.

Stroll about in lovely tropical heat through flora and fauna all wwith butterflies dancing about your head and Meerkats watching you...well done and cared for. Cafe too.

Food Scene
Its just great food and you can take your own booze in free! Can't fault it and resonably priced - sits next to a fancy hipster style resturant (Heaney and Mill) I know which I'd prefer. Book as it's always full.

If you read up about Salvos you'll find out how popular it is, it's grown into almost celebrity status. Local italian family setup so expect Yorkshire Italiana accents! To be honest it is just too popular and busy and for me it's undoing I'd rather go to Salvos Salumeria cafe next door for a snack and coffee.

No music or machines or student pub -crawls aloud in so just drink and talk and maybe stagger back up the road to ours....

Cafe Lento is a small indi cafe with all you should find in a good cafe - lovely food, wonderful coffee, nice vibe, nice people and it has a Friday music thing -check details usually jazz orientated music. Only 10 min walk from ouur place and truly the best cafe .

Been to some DJ stuff and its been brilliant - I love it because its very grungy reminds me of the 70's before everything was gentrified and v cheap drinks with a side-venue if you want to try out music. Open v late.

Lovely old Victorian market place, since I've been here its had an upgrade but it still has an authentic feel and the stalls are interesting all set in the covered Victorian Harrods-style building.

Great if you want to spend a morning wandering around a Northern Victorian Mill with looms and water wheels all very authentic and chilling accounts of child labour from not so long ago.

Why not pop over to Otley on a Friday market day. Bustling street market, pubs, cafes - I heartily recommend wandering up to Bloomfield Square for excellent coffee and cake or a fine lunch - on the site of an old printing press.

You can go on the train it stops right outside and spend a whole day in the Salts Mill. Even if you don't like David Hockney's work it's a good day out and theres some good cafes and unique shops - or stroll down to the Leeds Liverpool canal or wander around Sataire.
