Drinks & Nightlife

Best damn bar around, especially on Thursday nights when they have an open blues and rock'n'roll jam. The caliber of musicianship in this authentic roadhouse is off the charts!

"The One 12 is a great, rustic bar set in the foothills of the Olympics. 5 min away from the beach, it is ideal to stop in and grab a good cheap pint and some grub on the way out HWY 112. Lucinda the owner is a wonderful lady and has helpful kitchen and bar staff for all your culinary and drinking needs. There is pool and darts in a room beside the bar room; as well as a sit down room where a family can share a meal. Love the space, the people and the menu. Be sure to get in on some of those happy hour deals!"

This place would fit most categories-music venue, brewery, nightclub, bar etc. It has the most down-home feel a visitor could wish for, and the music they offer is both top=notch and free (but be sure to tip!) Literally my most favorite establishment in Port Angeles!

Food Scene

a review : "There are not many places where one can find wild blackberry pie, crumble, crisp, pancakes -- so to find this rather out-of-the-way place in the tiny town of Joyce was a real treat. The menu had an array of choices, but our quest was for authentic wild blackberries, the kind that grow on clear-cut land and are quite small. These are not the ubiquitous evergreen or Himalayan blackberries that have taken over so much of western Washington and Oregon, but the species native to our part of the country. If you are traveling between Port Angeles and Neah Bay, look for the wide spot in the road that is Joyce and celebrate our wild blackberries"

Arts & Culture

The Klallam people once spanned the entire northern portion of the Olympic Peninsula with 33 villages. Downtown Port Angeles was once the site of a historic village called č̕ixʷícən (Tse-whit-zen) believed to be over 2,700-years-old. The ancient village was discovered by the city in 2003 when Native American remains and artifacts were discovered during a city project at the base of Ediz Hook. The artifacts found are now on permanent display at the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center. To date, this is the largest Native American village to be found in Washington state since the Makah’s Ozette village was uncovered in the 1970s.
