Great cafe/bar/restaurant. Does vegan food but it has widespread appeal. The main bar is especially nice place to go for lunch. Family friendly. Beer garden upstairs (one of very few decent ones in the city centre!) They also have regular exhibitions and two cool little shops: one for books, one for art & design. Great place to pick up some souvenirs for friends.
Secret tip: Every second Sunday the upstairs bar CCA hosts a board game club. You pay £2 and get access to any of the host Kenny's vast collection. A great way to spend an afternoon.

The best pizza in Glasgow. Easily. Pizzas are seriously cheap for the quality too. They don't take reservations so you may have to queue at dinner-time, however it's definitely worth it!

A Glasgow institution. A good choice if you've just left Kelvingrove.
They have three restaurants pretty much side by side:
Mother India's Cafe: Tapas-style, probably the best one.
Mother India: Main restaurant, a bit more traditional.
Dining In: Small restaurant section, but does a great take-away deal where you buy the meal from their fridge section and heat up at home. It's pretty good value for money and better than your standard take-away.

Pub owned by Scottish the scottish craft-brewers Williams. Great selection of reasonably priced beers and ever-changing guest kegs to boot. The beer garden is right by the river Kelvin and actually situated on the kelvin walkway. Particularly well known around these parts for its dog-friendly policy - expect to be surrounded by canines.

A lovely walkway along the river. Winds through the Botanics and past some of the very well-heeled parts of the west end. Great if you want to explore the city away from the cars. A good route for cyclists too. The closest entrance to the walkway is by joining it at Inn Deep (also marked on the map).

A good sized park with lots to see and do. The two glass houses (the famous Kibble Palace is one) have a great selection - recommended to anyone.
Secret spot: In some areas, you can peak down and see where the old Botanics Train Station used to be. It's overgrown and covered in grafitti now.

I recommend going up to one of the highest points in the park at the Park Terrace entrance. You get a great view of Glasgow Uni and over the city.
