My neighboorhood cafe! :) Situated just across the street, - a lovely cafee with mostly organic food. Also outdoor seating and sometimes they run outdoor cinema at night! Closed on Mondays.

Number 1 thing to do when visiting Bergen! Accessible, cheap and spectacular. Take the funicular up and enjoy the view. From there you can hike to many places, most notably walk the "vidden", the hike between Mount Fløyen and Mount Ulriken. Or you can just walk down to the city center with wonderful views all the way. It takes just 30 minutes to walk down. There are several paths, but my favorite is the ones on the west side, Tippetue or Fløysvingene.

Number 1 thing to do when visiting Bergen! Accessible, cheap and spectacular. Take the funicular up and enjoy the view. From there you can hike to many places, most notably walk the "vidden", the hike between Mount Fløyen and Mount Ulriken. Or you can just walk down to the city center with wonderful views all the way. It takes just 30 minutes to walk down. There are several paths, but my favorite is the ones on the west side, Tippetue or Fløysvingene.

It is a reason for that, and on a day with a clear view it is just breathtaking. Expensive, (NOK 950) but it might be worth it.

Because it has the largest collection of a very interesting Norvegian painter named Nicolai Astrup. He was born in a remote village in the remote village of Bremanger in 1880 and painted in the area until his death in 1928. Mostly locale motives of nature and social life. Just recently he has been discovered and now exebitions of his paintings are traveling around the world. I am no art expert, but to me he is a bit like a brighter version of Munch, - check it out, I love it! :)

Getting Around
There is a bus stop 100 meters from the house. It takes you to the city center and the railway station. I have lived here for nearly 20 years and never used it, This city is small with short distances:) If you need a taxi: call 07000 or 08000.
