For a fabulous view of the lake and rolling hills, you can’t miss Overlook Park at the dam. A short hike to the beach area if you want to swim or just walk on the dam. We recommend going early because they do limit capacity. Opens at 7 AM and closes at sunset

Activities

Things to do to make your stay more exciting!
Tube chutes, rides, tube slides, and pools use spring fed river water that always stays a cool 72 degrees and flows right back into the river. Ride the famous black tubes for hours in the Original Section featuring the iconic castle. Find shade in the natural canopy of trees and spend the day together when you bring your own picnic. Of course rivers are only the beginning!

During the day, the Whitewater Amphitheatre boasts sunny afternoons with unrestricted access to fun activities like tubing, rafting, and canoeing in a less hindered river setting. At dusk, the venue’s Creekside Stage and Biergarten lights up with subtle spot and torch lighting for a perfect evening ambience which also double as a music venue!

Don’t miss seeing Texas’ oldest, continuously operating dance hall (Gruene Hall) and saloon. Grist Mill Restaurant- not only a must visit with yummy food, the setting is very unique - Go early and usually expect a wait. The old General Store-lots of neat little Texas themed gifts, foods, and old fashioned ice cream. There’s lots of walkable shopping and wineries to enjoy too
