This is the oldest operating post office in the country. There is a plaque commemorating the original white settlers, The Kaweah Colony. Inside the post office are the original PO boxes and a book trading library.

It generally takes about 45 minutes to get from the park entrance up to the General Sherman but take your time and enjoy the pull outs and the views. They are as breathtaking as the General Sherman is unbelievable.
