If you’re into food and people watching, Win Son Bakery is an absolute must. This insanely good Taiwanese spot was recently opened across the street from their sister restaurant Win Son. Beautiful creative types flock here in the morning for the great coffee, inventive pastries and breakfast sandwiches. And in the evening for comfort food twists on Taiwanese takeout. This is the place that I miss when I’m away from home.

The original to the aforementioned Win Son bakery, this standout Taiwanese- American restaurant is ideal for people watching, with plenty of outdoor seating, absurdly good everything and a full cocktail menu. If you can’t get a dinner reservation, they do offer pickup and delivery, but the scene here really is worth the wait. Try to get a table for lunch, or in the late afternoon hours before it gets too busy.

If you can’t get a dinner reservation, they do offer pickup and delivery, but the scene here really is worth the wait. Try to get a table for lunch, or in the late afternoon hours before it gets too busy.
This french bakery has ruined all other croissants for me. They are flaky and buttery, just as they should be. It’s a nice walk and just far enough away that you won’t be tempted to go every single day. Go early because there is often a line by mid morning that extends allll the way down the block. Trust me it is worth it.

Coffee and light bites/lunch
I love this cozy neighborhood coffee shop. The owner, who is always there working, is super friendly and kind. The coffee is great, and they have a pretty wide selection of solid sandwiches for breakfast and lunch.

Excellent excellent coffee in a style-y Japanese setting. I don’t know how they make it so well, but it really is the best in the neighborhood. They also have bento boxes for lunch- I’ve never tried one but they seem popular. When indoor dining is an option, this is a great spot for lingering with your laptop.
