Also known as Mayberry. Andy Griffith was born and raised in Mount Airy along with country music star Donna Fargo. At every turn, you will see replicas of many places that was featured in the Andy Griffith Show. The Jail, Opies Candy Store, Floyd's Barber Shop, and Snappy Lunch. Thelma Lou, Barnie's girlfriend on the show actually lives in Mount Airy. She signs autographs at the Andy Griffith Museum once a month, check schedule. Did you know that you can even take a ride in the squad car and tour the town? We highly recommend that Mt. Airy is a must stop.
