“US Marines were stationed here during WWII and there is an interesting exhibition area detailing their time in Wellington. But there is also a cool Tram that you can ride in from the main road down to the beach through the park. It operates 11am-4.30pm Sat, Sun and public holidays. ”

Park
“Summertime fun! This park was upgraded a couple of years ago to include an splash playground. It gets busy, but it's fantastic for the kids. Picnic tables and a short stroll to the beach if needed. Also had the cutest minature ride on railway. The railway runs most Sundays between 1-4pm ”

“You can walk or bike on the easy level tracks beside the Waikane River that runs through the Domain. They take you to the Waikanae Estuary and beach and also meet up with the Kapiti Expressway track too. ”

Park
“Cycleway way linking Paekakariki and Raumati. Access via Queen Elizabeth Park from Paekakariki. Takes about 30 minutes to cycle through to Raumati. If you prefer a bit more exercise, try taking the Coastal route one way and the cycle way on the way back, once you've refueled at the Raumati Social Club”

Park
“Our secret place to swim in Summer! The river has some nice deep spots. Plus walking/biking trails that run adjacent and the Park itself has lots of space to play sports or lie on the grass and read a book. ”
