“Best place on the island to see the sunset! It has a large infinity pool that looks out across the sea. As the sun goes down the lights reflect off the sea and pool creating a beautifully dramatic effect! A must for that perfect holiday photo! It boasts an array of great restaurants, great music and bars. Thursdays are sushi and Jazz nights one of my favorites. ”

“From the Upper Barrakka Gardens you can enjoy a spectacular view of the the Birgu, Bormla and Senglea, also known as the Three Cities. The mouth of the Grand Harbour faces north east and is bounded to the north by Fort St Elmo, and is further sheltered by an isolated breakwater. The Harbour is bounded to the south by Fort Ricasoli. The Grand Harbour has a long history, particularly due to the islands strategic location and natural harbours. This Harbour has in fact been used since prehistoric times. From the Upper Barrakka Gardens you can take a lift down to the coast, where you can also get a ferry boat taking you across the Harbour to the three cities.”

Island
“Gozo, called Għawdex (aow-desh) in Malti, is a gloriously pretty island, with what the 19th-century nonsense poet Edward Lear called a 'pomskizillious and gromphibberous' landscape. He coined the words to describe the island's fairy-tale hillocks topped by enormous churches, its hidden, glittering coves, and its sculptured coastal cliffs. Gozo moves at a much slower pace than its bigger, busier neighbour. Although it is more than one-third the size of Malta, it has less than one-tenth of the population – only about 30,000 Gozitans live here (and they are Gozitans first, Maltese second). This is a lovely place to kick back, with sandy beaches, rocky coves, excellent scuba diving and snorkelling, plus history in the form of megalithic temples and medieval citadels. For foodies, there's the appeal of vineyard visits and great oceanfront dining on fresh seafood, and just a short boat ride away is the glorious Blue Lagoon on tiny Comino. ”

“Built before the famous standing stones at Stonehenge, the two temples making up this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site have an extraordinary history. Built between 3600 and 3200 B.C, they fell into disuse around 2500BC and were not fully revealed to the modern eye until the nineteenth century. The name Ġgantija derives from the word ‘ġgant’, Maltese for giant, as Gozitans used to believe the temples were built by a race of giants. Not so surprising when you see the size of the limestone blocks from which it is constructed. Some of these megaliths exceed five metres in length and weigh over fifty tons. Hard-wearing coralline limestone is used for the construction of the outer walls (which is one of the reasons the buildings have survived so long) whilst softer, smoother, Globigerina limestone is reserved for inner furnishings such as doorways, altars, and decorative slabs. Each temple consists of a number of apses flanking a central corridor. There is evidence that internal walls would have been plastered and painted. Two plaster fragments marked with red ochre have been found and are now preserved at the Gozo Museum of Archaeology. The temples have a large terrace at the front which would probably have been used for ceremonial gatherings. Remains of animal bones suggest some sort of ritual involving animal sacrifice and the use of fire is evidenced by the presence of stone hearths. A number of libation holes in the floor may have been used for the pouring of liquid offerings. A small number of statuettes and other prehistoric objects found at Ġgantija can be seen in the Gozo Museum of Archaeology. Accessible for persons with a disability.”

“The temple of Ħaġar Qim stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Fifla, not more than 2km south-west of the village of Qrendi. At the bottom of the hill, only 500m away, one finds the remarkable temples of Mnajdra. Both sites are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.”

Beach
“Golden Bay, known as Il-Muxquqa in Maltesea and previously known as Military Bay, is a sandy beach located on the north-west coast of Malta in the Manikata region. The golden sand offers a shallow area allowing swimmers to easily walk into the sea. In the summer months, there will be lifeguards on duty at the bay. There is a large hotel with great restaurants just next to the beach, as well as the Għajn Tuffieħa International Scouts Campsite offering an all-year-round camping experience for everyone. A bus terminus and car park are located at Golden Bay. Golden Bay is also known as a great beach to surf, although this would only happen in winter, partly because the southwesterly wind blows only in winter as well as because it so popular with swimmers in the summer. Golden Bay is good for beginners and advanced surfers depending on the wind force and the size of the waves. You should be aware, particularly if you are not an experienced swimmer, that the bay is known to have very strong under currents. So be sure to check the weather forecast before heading there.”

Kościół
“Built between 1573 and 1577, this cathedral contains two masterpieces by Caravaggio. St John’s Co-Cathedral is a gem of Baroque art and architecture. It was built as the conventual church for the Knights of St John. This church is till this very day an important shrine and a sacred place of worship. It is also a venue for cultural events. The construction was commissioned in 1572 by Grand Master Jean de la Cassière to serve as the conventual church of the Knights of Malta and designed by the Maltese military architect Gerolamo Cassar. The church was dedicated to St John the Baptist, the patron saint of the Order. The oratory holds the biggest and only signed masterpiece by Caravaggio. St John’s church is administered by the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation responsible for the religious cultural heritage of the monument.”
