Beach
“There is a reason why Marinha Beach has been awarded with a Golden Flag and classified as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world. Here, nature has left its beautiful traces in these cliffs and awarded this beach an amazing greenish-blue sea. But don’t think this beach only has colourful and shaped cliffs to offer. The sound of the birds searching for fish will take you to the underwater realm. You only need a diving mask and some fins to get into the wonders this beach has to offer you. This patrimony, which belongs to Lagoa, but mostly to the world, has had the attention of some entities, like the University of the Algarve or the CCR Algarve, as well as its own Municipality, to set underwater trails that lead you to an adventure full of emotions. You can also go to the big algar, where the information board will explain you how these caves are formed in lime coastal areas.”

“Ponta da Piedade is considered as the finest natural feature, with the cliffs of the headland carved into rock pillars, natural tunnels and hidden grottos. These golden sandstone cliffs of misshaped angles stand at stark contrast to the deep turquoises and greens of the sea waters, and the entire region is best described as simply stunning.”

“The Fort of Sagres is located on a dramatic, narrow headland that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean to form Portugal's most south-westerly point. It dates back to the 15th Century, a time when the Portuguese coast was often the target of raids from the Barbary pirates who heralded from the nearby North African shores.”

“Another fortress from the discovery time! Unfortunately it's closed due erosion on the cliff's affecting the chapel, but it's a place you need to go, check the views to Sagres. A most do, it's the path sculpted on the cliff on the way to the water. Yes here you can do down the 35m high of the cliffs in SAFE!”

“Learn about the history Silves and the history of the Algarve region: The Rio Arade was long an important route into the interior for the Phoenicians, Greeks and Carthaginians, who wanted the copper and iron action in the southwest of the country. With the Moorish invasion from the 8th century, the town gained prominence due to its strategic hilltop, riverside site. From the mid-11th to the mid-13th centuries, Shelb (or Xelb), as it was then known, rivalled Lisbon in prosperity and influence: according to the 12th-century Arab geographer Idrisi, it had a population of 30, 000, a port and shipyards, and ‘attractive buildings and well-furnished bazaars’.”
