“More than 2,000 m2 of gallery space showcase almost one thousand exhibits, including sarcophagi, mummies, jewellery and amulets, to give us a greater understanding of everyday life and the prevailing customs of the ancient civilisation of the Pharaohs. The Museu Egipci de Barcelona runs guided tours of its collections led by Egyptologists, which are essential in order to give visitors a greater understanding and knowledge of Egyptian culture and civilisation. In addition to the permanent collections and the temporary exhibitions, the museum also organises other activities which enable visitors to enjoy the collections in an entertaining, fun way. These activities include night-time guided tours featuring re-enactments of scenes by actors. Another of the activities is the Eternal Banquet ("Banquet Etern"), a guided tour centring on Egyptian cuisine which gives visitors the opportunity to taste products that were part of the diet of this ancient civilisation.”

“A very unique gallery that filters “adult” art for children. It’s a space oriented to kids where they can have their first encounters with art as a stimulus for creativity, imagination, self-esteem, and even work ethic. It even encourages them to start their personal collections early. There’s even a tiny room where kids can play while you select the art you’ll buy for them.”

“Everyone always thinks this is one of the newest big galleries in the city, but it’s been around for over a decade now. N2 exhibits both national and international talent—both emerging and established artists—and showcases the latest trends in painting, sculpture, collage, installations, photography, and video, among other media. The gallery is located in one of the most amazing pedestrian streets in Barcelona. Take a nice slow walk around the neighborhood and discover other small galleries, too. And you shouldn’t miss L’Appartement, a cool design shop located right in front of N2.”

“The artists exhibited here tend to be linked to political and social issues, which gives the programming an edge. You’ll always find exhibitions that are relevant to what’s happening in society. They’ve got a clear international character, and collaborate with intellectuals and professionals in the field to help keep the program fresh. The gallery represents Mounir Fatmi, who’s also from Tangier. Even though I paint and he creates visual spaces and linguistic games, I feel a certain connection with his art. His work deals with the desecration of the religious object and the end of dogmas and ideologies.”
