Saivan is an old romanian word that means „winter shelter for the sheeps”.
Sitting on top of a plateau overlooking the Moldova river valley with mount Rarau in the background,
LA SAIVAN *BioRetreat&Farm* is a special place, designed specifically for those who can appreciate unspoiled nature and life in a real, old-school yet alive traditional romanian farm, just like back in the day - but with all modern comforts.
A unique authentic place, just 1 hour away from Suceava international airport.

Miejsce
At LA SAIVAN *BioRetreat & Farm* you will be able to pick in total from 3 different traditional wooden houses dating back from the 1910’s, 20’s and 30’s, transported from different villages in Bucovina and rebuilt on top of the hill for spectacular views and peace.

Thanks to the 3 fresh-mountain-water wells on the land, the farm is a proper agriturism and on the property you will find horses, cows, sheeps, goats, chickens, rabbits, pigs, cats and shepard dogs. And often, passing by, also our friends the fox, the deers and the wild boars.

All eggs, milk, cheese, meat, honey and palinka come straight from the farm, 100% Bio, and are made using traditional methods centuries old.
That’s the base of our breakfasts and of chef Lili kitchen, and the secret that enables her to prepare such delights out of the best traditional recipies from Bucovina.

The houses

Each of our 3 houses enjoys perfect views and exposure to all day sunlight,
as they all face south to the valley – so you can watch sunrise and sunset right from your porch while sipping your coffee or a glass of fresh milk.

The Casa Mare – The big house.
It dates back from 1918 and was originally sitting in Molid village. Was the second house to be relocated on the hill, after Casa Mica, in 2017.
It has 2 queen-size bed rooms with bathrooms, a large living room with counches and a huge soba (traditional stove on which kids can even sleep!), a large mansarda with couch-bed and library, and a full kitchen. Sleeps 4 to 8 people, so it’s perfect for 2 couples, or 2 families with kids, or a group of friends.

On top of Casa Mare you can also rent

Casa Mica – the small house – is the first house moved on the property, back in 2016, thanks to Mr. Sufla commitment. It was originally located in the village of Vama and dates back to 1926.
It’s built in classic bucovinean format and proportions, its interior divided in 2 large rooms with soba and fireplace, one of them with a stylish queen size bed, a large en-suite bathroom and a large mansarda with couch-bed, easily accessible via internal staircase. Sleeps 4 so it’s perfect for a romantic couple gateway, as much as for a family with 2 kids, or a small group of friends.

And:

Casa Foarte Mica (the very small house) or Casa Parinteasca (the Parents’s house),
originally located on the road between the villages of Vama and Molid, as the name suggests it’s the cosiest of them all. Also a traditional bucovinean layout, it has a single large room with queen size bed, a large soba (fieewood stove), and an en-suite bathroom. Ideal for a couple, it sits slighlty apart from the other 2 houses so to offer even more privacy.

Please note that when renting any of the houses at La Saivan you will also be able to use The Foisor, an open air full kitchen with a great BBQ grill, a wood oven, a wood cooking stove, the "afumatoare" - a small Smoke House to smoke meat and fish - and a rotisor. For some glorious outdoor cooking all together with your family and friends.

But in case you don't want to cook yourself, just let us know: Chef Liliana will be more than happy to provide you with delicious lunches and dinners prepared with ingredients fresh from the farm, for a small extra fee.

The houses can be rented all together or one by one ( different listings:
La Saivan - Casa Mare and La Saivan - Casa Mica )

As we are keen in offering a true back-in-time experience, the wooden houses were built using traditional ancient tecniques and even though they offer modern comforts such as electricity, central heating, running hot/cold water and contemporary restrooms, you will not find TV.
We are sure you will have more time and will be happy to disconnect and savour the truthness and uniqueness of the nature and the place.
Step back in time.
Welcome to La Saivan.

Dostęp dla gości
LA SAIVAN sits on a mountain plateau near the villages of Vama and Prisaca Dornei, on mount Hasnas.
It is close to the main road (DN17, E58) that links Gura Humorului, Vama and Campulung Moldovenesc but at the same time quite remote.

These are the best ways to get there:

By plane:
The Suceava International Airport is just 1 hour away, and has direct flights to Italy (Rome, Milan, Bologna), to UK (London), to Germany (Memmingen/Munich) and more.
it also has several direct flights daily from/to Bucharest - 50 minutes flight.
We will be happy to arrange airport pick ups for a small fee.

By train:
There are main train stations in Gura Humorului, Campulung Moldovenesc and Vama, all just 5 to 15 minutes away.
Best solution coming from Bucharest is to take the night train leaving from Gara de Nord at 9.30 PM. You can get Vagon de dormit (Sleeping wagon) and you will arrive all fresh directly in Vama at 6 am - we will arrange pick up from the train station directly with our 4x4.

By Car:
Vama and Campulung are easily accessible with road and car, it's about a 6 hours drive from Bucharest.

The access to the property itself, though, it's remote and implies crossing the railroad tracks and the Moldova river,
so we require you call us in advance - Raluca (+4) 0748031323 - to organize your pick up with our 4x4.

Inne ważne rzeczy
Please note that we do not accept food from outside, therefore you can not bring your own food mostly due to sanitary reasons.
We are happy to offer you meals through the day cooked by chef Lili or Bucatar Maricica on our old time stove or directly in the wooden oven in foisor, with our biofarm or local products for a small fee.
Also you can find water ( sparkling or still), wines and beers plus the well known palinka up at La Saivan.

Please note that La Saivan sits at the heart of Bucovina, half way between the villages of Gura Humorului and Camplung Moldvenesc, so it’s also an ideal base to explore not only the region and its Unesco sites such as the amazing Painted Monesteries of Bucovina, but also for winter sports and activities on Mount Rarau brand-new Ski slopes, the longest in the country.

The human and anthropologic texture of the whole Bucovina region is also amazingly rich and alive, with every season full of folkloristic events ranging from amazing Easter traditions, to summer and winter colorful celebrations in traditional costumes, such as Obiceurile de iarna.

Open a door in time and get back to nature.
