Sleep under the light of a thousand stars in our one-of-a-kind, insect-free and allergen-reduced inflatable dome BUBBLE TENTS (June 26 to September 7, 2020)

Perfect for a romantic getaway or a night gazing at the stars, each of our bubble tents is located in a semi-private location selected specifically for great views of the night sky. Tents come with a round mattress, sleeping bags, pillows and a park pass for use during your stay.

Miejsce
Minimalist comfort, convenient location, one-of-a-kind experience. This 91 square foot, 3 meter in diameter off-grid bubble tent is set on a dodecagon wooden platform facing the forest for privacy, and the sky for the spectacular night view. It comes with everything you need for an other-worldly camping experience you'll remember forever. The half-wall dome tent includes an opaque layer at the sleeping level for privacy, and transparent top for views of the night sky above.

The air filtration system keeps the tent inflated, refreshes the air, and keeps the mosquitoes and pollen out. Outside, you'll find your own personal muskoka chairs, a picnic table and fire pit. Visit our brand new centrally-located comfort station with accessible showers and toilets, as well as an outdoor kitchen with propane barbecues (we supply the propane). All of this is included in the base price. Every group also receives private instruction on what to expect, interesting local activities, camping safety and an invitation to participate in our nightly ‘fire buddy’ program. We’ll teach you how to start a campfire, or do it for you at no charge if you like.

Standard furniture arrangement: One 6” thick, round floor mattress. There is enough sleeping space for a couple, or a couple with up to 2 children if you don’t mind being cozy. The tent comes standard with 2 pillows, 2 sleeping bags and 2 wool blankets. Note that the linen option is not available for the Bubble tent.

If you need additional camping supplies, visit our Quartermaster Shack at FourCornersAlgonquin.MyTurn.com to browse and reserve from our inventory of camping items. We carry everything from dishes and towels to board games, musical instruments and yoga mats. Order in advance and we’ll deliver everything to your tent in time for your arrival, so you can hit the ground running (or sit back and relax) the moment you get here.

Before booking, you should know that this is a 'living, breathing tent', which means that it behaves differently than our traditional tents or other camping/tent experiences you may have had. In some ways it's more akin to a 'bouncy castle' experience (without the bounce). By booking, you accept that you may experience the following during your stay:

1) The blower must remain on continuously in order to keep the tent inflated while occupied. Some guests find the noise disruptive, while others (especially those who live downtown in large cities like Toronto) find that the fan noise reminds them of home. You will not hear the night time sounds of the forest in this tent at all, which may be a comfort to nervous campers. If the hum of this white noise is disruptive, we're happy to provide complimentary ear plugs.

2) The bubble is intimately connected to the environment. It may sway in the wind or be subject to condensation or water infiltration, especially if wet weather is heavy or prolonged. Air temperatures can be uncomfortably warm in the heat of the day (though most guests are away enjoying the out of doors in the afternoon), and quite cool at night. The tent is screwed to the deck so it will not under any circumstances lift or become airborne. The seams have been waterproofed and are checked each season, and as necessary throughout the season, for leakage. We recommend avoiding the interior of the tent between 12:00 noon and 4:00pm. Do not leave small children unattended in the tent, especially during this time.

3) The tent will deflate if the hydro goes out. The exit to the dome has an aluminum frame and remains accessible for safety reasons even in the event of deflation. Since we are solar powered, we monitor power availability and usage closely and engage our backup generator when necessary to reduce the possibility of this happening, but it can still happen. (Even local businesses connected to the grid experience hydro outages several times a month in summer here.)

We are happy to report that after a four- week trial of the bubble technology last season, fewer than 5% of reservations were affected by anomalies. We expect that number to drop to near zero this year.

We have a strict no smoking rule for these tents, for obvious reasons. Regular housekeeping maintains the tent in tip-top shape, but remember - this is still camping. The tent is your space and we do not enter for the duration of your stay. We also ask that guests remember the tiny footprint rule: please leave the space the way you found it as a courtesy to those who come after you. Please sweep up on your way out with the broom provided.

The FOUR CORNERS ALGONQUIN GLAMPING DIFFERENCE:
Since opening our doors, we have hosted over a thousand people from over two dozen countries and treated each one to an authentic, but comfortable, Canadian camping experience. Whether you’re a first-timer or a back-country wilderness expert, we can provide a service level that fits your experience needs at a price point that fits your budget.

We offer services a la carte which means you get to choose how many services you buy, and therefore, how much your stay with us costs. We consider this ‘affordable glamping’. We offer discounts for longer stays and last-minute bookings. We can also accommodate family and friend groups for camping events, which makes what we do more of a fun type of “social glamping”. We are currently the only provider of Bubble Tent camping experiences in Ontario!

Concerned about your carbon footprint? So are we! We are proud to be an almost net-zero energy, low carbon, off-grid, renewable energy business situated on 90 acres of forested Canadian shield.

2020 STAR-GAZING Opportunities and astronomical events:
Daydreaming about stargazing? Whether you’re looking for big ones, little ones, or want to be amazed by the sight of something so magnificent you don’t understand it at all, we’ve got you covered. Our low light pollution location and intentional use of down-lighting alternatives offers spectacular night sky viewing opportunities for everything from planets, to the moon, to shooting stars and sometimes even the northern lights. (Some equally spectacular day time stars have appeared randomly on occasion as well, much to everyone’s unexpected delight. Like meteor sightings that tend to cluster in mid-August, movie star sightings tend to coincide with the Toronto International Film Festival. Any Harry Potter fans out there? Not saying, just saying…)

Four Corners is a camping, glamping and tiny house tourist accommodation business located on 90 acres of land in Whitney, Ontario, Canada directly adjacent to Algonquin Provincial Park. Located a very short drive from the east gate along the Highway 60 corridor, we are a minimalist, net-zero energy facility, with our modest electricity requirements generated on-site through solar energy. We are building toward a 'maker' model of social innovation that will help everyday people engage with everyday culture in entertaining, educational, meaningful and enduring ways. Our goal is to fund research into the many ways cultural heritage can build social and economic resilience in rural communities. When we travel personally or for business, we tend to stay in Canada. We always travel light, keeping a small footprint, and we're teaching our kids the same philosophy. We've crossed the country by train, plane and automobile for our work meeting new people and looking for great ideas and novel ways to celebrate everyday life. As settlers, we're grateful for the opportunity to meet in this place and we thank all generations of people who have taken care of and been stewards of this land for thousands of years before today. We acknowledge that we are operating on unceded* Algonquin, Anishinaabeg territory. The Anishinaabeg nation includes all the Algonkian/Ojibwa Nations: Ojibway, Odawa, Algonquin, Potawatomi, Nipissing, Mississaugas, Saulteau. We recognize and deeply appreciate their historic connection to this place. We also recognize the contributions the Métis, Inuit, and other Indigenous peoples have made in shaping and strengthening this community in particular, and our province and country as a whole. We are committed personally and as a business to making Truth and Reconciliation real. ______________________ *"Unceded" territory means that the original peoples, The Algonquins, never relinquished ownership of the land to the Crown. It was subsequently taken from them and given to settlers. This includes the land on which we operate, for which a crown patent was issued in 1907 under the reign of King Edward VII, and subsequently given to a veteran and his family as a land grant. Land to the West and North of us is designated to be returned to the Algonquins in the largest modern day treaty negotiation of its kind in Canada. We look forward to becoming neighbours with the Algonquin nation when this land claim is finalized.
