Looking for something a little different?

How about a recycled 20 ft shipping container converted to stylish accommodation.

Love a large private steamy hot bath staring up at the Milky Way counting shooting stars while enjoying a glass of wine?

40 mins from Queenstown airport on the road to Milford Sound. Has amazing mountain/river views. Large deck. En-suite shower and toilet. Fridge, microwave, jug and toaster. Gas BBQ. Comfy queen size bed.

Oh.And a tribe of 6 rescue goats on site!

Miejsce
Just 40 minutes stunning drive from Queenstown airport via SH6 on the road to Milford Sound and Lake Te Anau is this stylish cabin.

Situated just 1 kilometre off the Southern Scenic Route on SH 6 the cabin is set on 13 acres of farmland with stunning mountain, river and rural farmland views. It is also adjacent to a much larger river reserve containing trout and eels. There is also the nearby Brightwater natural water spring.

If you want to try feeding and interacting with quirky goats this is something you can definitely do.

Every guest gets the option of planting a NZ native tree on the property. Pete has raised these in his grow house for this purpose. If you don’t have time or are not able to plant one Pete will plant one for every guest who can’t.

If trout fishing, swimming in the summer, river and rural walks or soaking in the hot bath under the amazing night sky is what you love then this is the place to stay.

If weather conditions permit there is an outdoor fire in front of the cabin to chat around, maybe have a glass of wine, toast some marshmallows (provided in your room) and watch the skies darken. **Subject to there being no summer restrictions on outdoor fires.**

If you’re keen you can come down and feed the resident long fin monster eel. Believed to be around 80 years old it’s usually hanging out for a few treats.

Nearby activities include horse riding, scenic flights, off road buggy experience, hiking, mountain biking, trout fishing (in season)and animal experiences.

The newly opened Around the Mountains cycle trail runs adjacent to the property.

In winter the accommodation is only 35 minutes to the Remarkables ski field access road.

The night sky with the lack of any light pollution is truly stunning. Occasionally the Aurora Australis is visible which is a sight to behold.

The super friendly hosts Emily and Pete have a real passion for the area and love to share it with guests from around the world. They are more than happy to offer advice and suggestions to travellers on all facets of the area and NZ generally.

The hosts are also keen organic fruit and vegetable growers and beekeepers which is all evident on the property. There is also a newly established Peony flower farm which flowers during November/December.

There are a selection of friendly tame farm animals which are always happy to be fed if the guest is an animal lover.

For dining options the nearby towns of Athol and Kingston are within a short drive.

Tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with cereal and bread for toast and a selection of spreads.

A portable gas cooker is also available for use as well as the BBQ

Note: In summer there may be regional fire restrictions or dry and windy conditions which prevent the use of the outdoor fire.

Dostęp dla gości
Guests privacy is valued and respected. You can park right next to container with easy access.

Inne ważne rzeczy
Due to the location of the accommodation wifi is not reliable and therefore unavailable. Cell phone coverage is excellent however. The nearest supermarket is either Lumsden or Te Anau if you are travelling from Milford or Queenstown if you coming from the Airport. There is a small store at Kingston which has basic grocery items available.

You will immediately feel relaxed in the wide open spaces with the ability to stroll down to the river (only 100 metres away) and see trout or just sit on the rivers edge for a picnic or glass of wine.
