Purpose built in the 1980s, the marina and residential area of Puerto de la Duquesa is situated between two fantastic beaches and within an easy walk of two similarly unexploited Spanish villages, Sabinillas to the north and Castillo to the south. Although popular with the expat community, Duquesa successfully manages to offer its visitors a fantastic blend of traditional local culture mixed with international offerings. Whether you are looking to enjoy a cold beer on the beach with a plate of fresh fish in the chiringuitos or looking for adventurous boat trips, fishing trips, days spent on the golf course, road trips into the mountains, there really is something for everyone!

San Luis de Sabinillas
Less than a kilometer away, you can find what not too long ago was an working Spanish coastal village. However today Sabinillas is a modern town, which still holds onto its heritage. The older fishermen still gather at the west end of the paseo first thing in the morning and decide whether or not to take their boats out. Sabinillas is quickly becoming an international seaside resort. Beach bars and chiringuitos provide authentic Spanish food and drink, and within the town there are some fine restaurants serving every conceivable type of cuisine, Spanish, Indian, French, Italian and British.

Estepona
A short 15 minute drive down the coast road and you will find the Moorish town of Estepona. Known these days as ‘the garden of the Costa del Sol’, the orange tree lined streets offer a real ‘Spanish’ feel for its visitors. In Estepona ‘Old Town’ you can find rows of pedestrian streets, where the houses are lined with hundreds of hanging and wall baskets. Mixed in with a number of bars, restaurants and cafes, ranging from the traditional, dark, bodegas to more modern light and airy ‘gastro bars’. Allowing clients, summer or winter, to sit outside and watch the world go by.

Marbella
However if your looking for a day of shopping or a glamorous night out, look no further than Marbella’s golden mile. Only 40km away and running 4 miles long, the area offers plenty of landmark beach clubs and hotels like Marbella Club Hotel with their 5* luxury spas and golf courses, blended with nightclubs, restaurants and the world renowned El Corte Ingles shopping center in the nearby Puerto Banus.
