I would like to begin by providing you with the latest Hawaii COVID-19 INFO.:

As I'm sure you are aware, the recent issues with Covid-19 have been developing day by day.

Hawaii continues to lead the country with the lowest numbers of COVID-19 cases (per capita), the lowest number of hospitalizations due to COVID-19 (per capita), and the lowest number of deaths due to COVID-19 (per capita).

Due to Hawaii's vulnerability as isolated islands with limited medical reources, our state is taking a cautious approach to reopening. With COVID-19 still so active and uncontrolled in mainland U.S. states and other countries, Hawaii has made public health and safety the top priority. We are excited about reopening to the world. We are excited to get back to work. We are excited to welcome our visitors again! But we need to do it carefully in order to minimize the risks. We need to keep our residents and visitor industry workers safe from potential infection and make sure the islands continue to be a safe destination for you, our visitors. You can help us when you're here by following recommended protocols such as social distancing, hand washing, and wearing a mask in public places (currently required in Maui unless you are exercising at beaches and parks or you are in the ocean or pool). With your kokua (cooperation), we can help keep Hawaii safe for everyone.

Before considering traveling to Maui please check the Hawaii State Department of Transportation's website and/or the sites listed below for the latest news regarding travel. Recommendations for visitors and residents are frequently being updated.

We take your health and safety very seriously and have put systems in place to keep our guests as safe as possible.

Hawaii implemented a pre-travel testing program that allows us to welcome visitors to the islands without quarantine if the current Hawaii requirements are met .

Arriving travelers who have a valid, negative COVID 19 test uploaded to the Safe Travels System and travelers who quickly download the AlohaSafe Alert App on their phone PRIOR to arriving into Hawaii will be EXEMPT from the 10-day quarantine. This means that if all travelers in your party (age 5 and older) are willing to get the test and have their negative results, travelers will be allowed to stay in this vacation rental condo and travelers will not need to quarantine.

On 01/15/2021, Governor Ige approved the Mandatory ContactTracing Requirement for all travelers from both the mainland and interisland to Maui. We have more details on when that starts and how it will work below.

New Contact Tracing Rules Start 1/19/2021 For Maui....

The latest emergency rules read as follows. “All travelers into Maui County, whether interisland or transpacific, who wish to avoid quarantine by pre-testing within the State’s Safe Travels Program, must additionally download either the AlohaSafe Alert application or another Google-Apple Exposure Notification System application, or enable their exposure notification setting on their mobile device. Proof of registration, such as showing airport screeners or any law enforcement officer, the application installed or setting enabled on a traveler’s mobile device, is required. Failure to register with an exposure notification system BEFORE arrival into Maui County shall result in mandatory quarantine, except for any individual under the age of 18 or who does not possess a mobile device. Only for those who do not possess a mobile device, at least one individual in their traveling party will be required to comply.”

Tip: You must quickly download the AlohaSafe Alert App on your phone BEFORE departing for Maui. If you do it on arrival, it’s too late.

ALL Out-of-state travelers arriving into the state of Hawaii must get a NAAT (Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) no more than 72 hours prior to their final leg of departure from any testing location approved by the Hawaii State Department of Health. Evidence of a negative test result must be provided before their departure into the state of Hawaii. Without this, all passengers arriving from out-of-state will be subject to the 10 day quarantine. NO TESTING WILL BE PROVIDED UPON ARRIVAL AT THE AIRPORT. The Department of Health requires an FDA-approved NAAT test from a certified CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) lab. A list of approved labs can be found on the websites below.

All travelers will be required to upload evidence before their departure into the state of Hawaii by following the directions listed below. If possible, it is recommended that travelers also have printed or emailed pre test certification as evidence of a negative NAAT test result just as a backup.

Travelers will be responsible for the cost of their pre-travel test.

If travelers do not have their pre travel COVID results available before boarding the flight, travelers will need to remain in quarantine for 10 days (or their length of stay if shorter).

Travelers who choose NOT to get the pre-travel COVID test prior to traveling will also automatically be subject to the mandatory 10-day quarantine that has been in effect in Hawaii since March, 2020. The quarantine requires that all travelers stay INSIDE their HOTEL ROOM for the entire 10 days. Quarantined travelers are not allowed to rent vacation rental condos (they can only stay in hotels/resorts for quarantining purposes if pre travel covid tests were not taken before arriving into the state of Hawaii) or if results were not received in time. Quarantined travelers are also not allowed to rent a car, go grocery shopping, go to restaurants, go to the beach or hotel pool, or do anything outside of their hotel room. The quarantine is strictly enforced with hefty fines and/or arrest for those who violate the laws.

Hawaii is partnering with numerous testing partners, offering thousands of locations across the U.S. Examples can be found on the Testing Partner List on the websites listed below. There are also some airlines that are now participating and may be offering Covid tests at the airport prior to your departure. Please ensure they are on the preferred list of Hawaii Testing Partners.

Travelers can also check the Hawaiʻi State Department of Transportation’s website for the latest news regarding travel.

Recommendations for visitors and residents are frequently being updated, so please check information regularly.

By booking this condo, you are confirming that you understand that ALL travelers in your party (age 5 and older) will take an accepted COVID Test (administered within 72 hours from your final leg of departure into the state of Hawaii). You are also confirming that you understand that you must have your negative results in time in order to avoid the 10 day quarantine in a hotel or resort.

To avoid quarantine when travelling to Hawaii, guests must:
1 Set up a Safe Travels Hawaii account for each travelling adult at travel (dot) hawaii (dot) gov
2 Take the right type of COVID test at a participating location within 72-hours of the last leg of your flight into Hawaii
**3 Complete the online Travel Health Questionnaire on Safe Travels within 24 hours of your flight departure to receive a personalized QR code plus you must also download the AlohaSafe Alert App on your phone BEFORE departing for Maui. If you do it upon arrival, it’s too late and you will be subject to quarantine.
4 Display the Safe Travels QR code and negative test result plus download the AlohaSafe Alert App on your phone PRIOR to boarding the plane
5. Complete the final screening process upon arrival into Hawaii by showing the personalized QR code, negative test results, AlohaSafe Alert App, government ID, etc. Arriving passengers will also undergo thermal screening to check temperatures to ensure they are lower than 100.4 degrees.

Important:
All guests traveling to Hawaii are required to complete the Hawaii Safe Travels form and have a personalized QR code to present, regardless of the intent to complete a pre-arrival COVID testing process.

If a negative test is not uploaded or manually verified prior to departure, guests will be required to quarantine in a hotel or resort for 10 days upon arrival or the length of their stay, (whichever is shorter).

Maui County will require a second FREE Covid Test upon arrival starting in late April, 2021.

• All arrivals from outside the state will be required to undergo a FREE mandatory secondary Covid-19 RAPID test at the Kahului airport upon arrival into Maui or go into 10-day quarantine. This is in addition to the already required test 72 hours prior to travel, and regardless of vaccination status (for the time being).

Please note that this second test does not replace the first test requirements. The second test is merely an additional “second layer of protection” for the island.

Maui’s Secret Suite is a legal vacation rental.

Fully remodeled from floor to ceiling. Modern with a beachy twist! Your suite features AC, Cable TV, Free Parking, WIFI, a Queen Bed, Awesome Linens, microwave, mini fridge, coffee pot, and a SPA bathroom with a large, tiled walk-in shower. Everything is brand new!

COVID-19 Cleaning Precautions: Please know that we have enhanced both our cleaning routine and our cleaning methods to offer extra protection for our arriving guests. Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to not only clean but to also disinfect frequently touched surfaces and frequently touched household items between each reservation. We have allotted extra time and extra cleaners to complete these tasks to lower the risk of infection. We are using cleaning products and household disinfectants that are recommended as being effective against the coronavirus. We are also paying special attention to frequently touched surfaces like keyless entry pads, light switches, doorknobs, remote controls, microwave buttons, faucets, toilets, and kitchen appliance handles.

Maui’s Secret Suite is located right in the heart of South Kihei in the very popular and classic Island Surf Building which sits on 1.5 acres of pristine Maui real estate. This popular complex is just a couple blocks away from the well known Charley Young Beach and directly across the street from the world famous Kalama Beach Park. These are arguably two of South Maui's BEST water activity beaches and serve as the perfect pivoting point for all of your wonderful Maui activities and adventures.

Guests have access to a HEATED swimming pool on the roof of the second floor with incredible views looking out towards the ocean. Maui’s Secret Suite is located in South Kihei at Island Surf, a 6 story white building, which is directly across the street from Kalama Beach and Kalama Park. It is on the corner of South Kihei Road and Auhana Road. The address is 1993 South Kihei Road.

Maui has been voted the "Best Island in the World" for over 23 years. With daytime temperatures ranging from roughly 85 degrees F during the winter, it's easy to see why Maui is such a popular destination choice and the #1 island in the world.

Here’s why I think the South side of the island (where Kihei is located) is the best place to stay. South Maui really has it all! ;)

The sunny South shores of Kihei offer 6 miles of popular, sun kissed beaches with warm, balmy days and cool, tropical nights.

Typically, humidity levels in Kihei are VERY LOW and the annual rainfall in Kihei is LESS than anywhere else on island. :)

Kihei is a sizable beach town with plenty of places to eat and fun things to do. Kihei is definitely the hub for Maui surf lessons and is considered the true pivoting point for all of Maui’s popular outdoor activities.

Most of the accommodation options in Kihei will be condos with full kitchens (enabling you to save even more money if you choose to cook a couple meals at home).

Kihei is definitely less crowded and more affordable than the West side.

The beaches in Kihei are more plentiful, also less crowded, and quite a bit more accessible than those on the West side. You will definitely find more parking and better marked beaches in South Maui. In addition, most of the beaches in Kihei can be seen right from the road and Kihei offers totally free parking unlike the West side. ;)

Kihei is closer to Haleakala (hiking), the road to Hana, Iao Valley, and the airport than the West side.

Kihei is more private, intimate, and affordable than the West side.

Kihei is also closer to Paia, Makawao, Upcountry, Kahului, and Maalaea than the West side.

Kihei has the least amount of rain of anywhere on Island and is more laid back. It is not only drier but it is also sunnier. ;)

Kihei Boat Ramp is less than a mile from the condo. There are numerous snorkel and dive excursions that launch from this popular boat ramp every single morning offering options that include exploring the coral reefs at Molokini or swimming with the turtles at Turtle Town.

The only beach in Maui that used to be reserved for Hawaiian Royalty is within 3 miles of the condo. It is a very popular beach for canoeing, kite surfing, viewing sea turtles and whales, or simply basking in the sun. Picnic tables, grilling areas, free parking, and outdoor showers are all available at the beach across the street. Do as much as you want or as little as you desire. ;)

~ The National Humpback Museum and Whale Education Center for Maui is within 3 miles of the condo. They offer free educational classes and plenty of free, outdoor telescopes so you can get an up close and personal view of the Humpback Whales swimming and jumping in the ocean just in front of the museum.

The longest beach walk in all of Maui is in Kihei (within 3 miles from the condo).

Within a few miles from the condo you will also discover additional white sand beaches, fun ocean activities, several parks, loads of restaurants, groceries, shopping, banks, ATM machines, live entertainment, skate parks, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, diving, yoga centers, the Kihei Town Shopping Center, the Kihei Boat Ramp, Farmer’s Markets, dance clubs, live music, nightclubs/bars, Craft Fairs, and even several open-air Maui Marketplaces.

Hop in the car at the condo for a very short drive (less than three miles) to three, world class, championship golf courses as well as the popular and breathtaking Wailea resort area offering upscale shopping, incredible sightseeing, and romantic dining options.

Higher end resorts like Four Seasons, Andaz, Grand Wailea, and Kealani are all in Wailea which is just 3 miles South of Kihei. Wailea also has an award winning spa at the Grand Wailea (best spa in Maui).

Wailea is a resort community just south of Kihei that includes several mega beachfront resorts, some nice condo complexes, world class restaurants, and an upscale outdoor mall. The whole area is extremely lush and artistically manicured and looks just like the Hawaii of your dreams. When I’ve driven people down to Wailea after seeing other parts of the island, they’ve said “now THIS is truly PARADISE and what I envisioned all of Maui to look like.” To me, Wailea is the epitome of luxury. ;)

The Shops at Wailea is the nicest shopping center in Maui and it is only 3 miles away from the condo (very upscale).

A few more miles South in the car and you will discover the world renowned Makena area, where many famous people choose to reside.

Lahaina and Ka’anapali (West side) are a one hour drive from the main airport, and Kihei is only 15 minutes. In addition, the condo is only 9 miles away from the main airport in Kahului. ;)

Finally, worth mentioning, is the fact that there is only “one road in and one road out” for the West side of the Island. When that road gets shut down due to a car accident, you will be trapped for hours and hours (sometimes even overnight). This is one more reason why I always choose Kihei over the West side. :)

When Airbnb was first created, I was one of only 8 listings on Maui. My claim to fame is that Brian Chesky, himself, actually called me. Brian is one of the three Airbnb founders. Back then, I had also listed my car on Airbnb, and Brian said I was the first person to ever list a car on his platform. He thought it was interesting, and we had a very nice telephone conversation. By the end of 2020, Maui had over 18,000 vacation rental listings. The Airbnb platform has grown exponentially. I am truly honored to be a part of it all. Rest assured that you will not be bothered or forced to vacate by county officials during your vacation, as this condo is already a LEGALLY ZONED vacation rental with a Hawaii State Tax ID Number that is already registered with the Department of Taxation for the State of Hawaii. :)
