Miejsce
The ocean's roar and the sound of the breeze tousling the trees are the perfect accompaniment to this lovingly modernised 1940's woodsmans' cottage next to the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve.
From February to August the flowering rhododendrons are amazing, spilling over the fence, and the Preserve has something magical blooming all year round.
Our restful cottage is well off Hwy 101 on NE Forest Hill street and approached by a long driveway. A large tarmac pad to the front provides ample parking and easy turn around. There are views of mature shrubs and trees from all windows making the cottage very private.

COVID19 Considerations - Please be reassured that our fabulous housekeeper Barbara is taking extra precautions to sanitise the cottage for you, and all magazines and books have been removed. Disinfecting wipes are also available at the cottage.
We have ensured there is now a minimum of 24 hours between guest stays for your wellbeing.
Restaurants in Yachats have begun to reopen as of May 15, 2020.

Our prices include the 10% County lodging taxes which we remit quarterly.
A 1% Oregon State lodging tax is added by Airbnb.
The Main bedroom has a queen size bed with high quality down bedding. (Synthetic bedding options available if you have allergies - let us know.) Windows on two sides allow a wondrous silky-salty cross-breeze, and views of the night sky.
The Single bedroom is the sunny 'Garden-View' Room with a large picture window and sliding door that leads to a sunny south-facing deck. You'll find a comfortable single bed in this room for reading, daydreaming or sleeping a third person. This room is en-suite to the bathroom.
Sleeps three adults total.
Separate shower room from bathroom (with toilet & sink) for convenience.
Only well-behaved pets welcomed. See 'Pet Policy' in House Rules section for details.
The inside features Marmoleum flooring, lots of hand-finished details and woodwork, artwork, big picture windows, electric baseboard heaters, efficient certified wood stove and comfortable chairs and sofas.
The living room and kitchen layout is warm, flexible and open-plan.
There are several reading lights both tall and short - feel free to move them to your favourite reading spot.
In the kitchen there is a coffee-maker, toaster, popcorn airpopper, blender, electric kettle and cocktail shaker. Ample pots and pans. New oven in 2019. Caution - the knives are sharp!
From the living room there is the sunny 'Garden-View' Room with a large picture window and sliding door that leads to a sunny south-facing deck. The spacious deck was new in 2016 and constructed of 'Timber Tech' decking and cedar railings that blend into the garden setting. In the storage locker there are foldable rocking chairs for outside seating.
The property is adjacent to the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve with great views into the gardens. The main trail through the Preserve is part of the historic 804 Trail and leads from the Galleries and beaches. You can access the trail from the cluster of Galleries.
If you exit the Garden at the top and turn right, you'll continue along the path to the Ya'Xaik trail - wonderful path through the woods that comes out on Hwy 101 opposite the Fireside Lodge.
The Preserve is a peaceful sanctuary for nature, wildlife and people so we ask that you respect and enjoy that. No dogs.
The blooming rhododendrons are extraordinary, particularly from April through July, but there is always something of interest to see.
A 2 minute walk up the hill and you are in the Siuslaw National Forest - a magical place of Sitka Spruce giants and lush ferns. Lots of elk trails and man-made trails to explore.
A 5 minute walk downhill and across Hwy 101 leads through wind sculpted "Tim Burton-like" woods on an elk path, to the historic 804 Trail and beaches. At low tide there are miles of beach to explore.
The wonderful village of Yachats is just a mile to the south.
For the adventurous you can plan an 8 mile walk north on sandy beaches to Waldport during low, low tides (one way).

Dostęp dla gości
Check in is from 4pm at your convenience.
Prior to your stay I'll email you the number to the keysafe so you can arrive any time you like. The porch light will be on, or motion activated by you.
Guests have access to the whole house, lawns and the private, sunny, rear deck facing the Gerdemann Gardens.
There is a low step up to enter the cottage, and two steps down to the bedroom with a railing and a handle.
In front of the cottage is a large flat asphalt paved area.
There is no access to the garage, basement and cabin to the rear.
Please keep your dog out of the Botanic Preserve, and minimize barking.

Yachats (pronounced Ya-Hats) is a terrific base from which to explore the Oregon coast, and our cottage offers a restful haven. There is lots of "things to do" information in this listing, and in the cottage. There's also a Tourist Info office in the village.
In Yachats we highly recommend Bread and Roses for outstanding bread, pastries, soups and coffee. Wifi too.
The Green Salmon is known for its great coffees, teas and vegan breakfasts.
Luna Sea serves excellent fish and chips. Owner Robert Anthony is the fisherman and also lives on Forest Hill St.
You can rent videos opposite the C & K Grocery store at the Ya-Hots Video Rental.
You'll be pleasantly surprised to find both the 'Ya-Hots video' rental store and the new Yachats Brewery also have a great selection of organic produce and gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian foods.
There are two growlers in the cupboard above the fridge which the Yachats Brewery or the Rogue Brewery in Newport, would be happy to refill for you.
Our hand-made light switch covers (Wild Works Ltd), and also Barb Campbell's ceramics and Michael Dibitetto's engravings, are available online and from Touchstone and Earthworks Galleries just down the road.
Jacquee at Touchstone will give you a discount if you mention you are staying in our cottage!
There is wired internet at the cottage.
There is moderate cell phone reception so you may also be able to access the internet via your mobile device.
Free, 24/7, high-speed community Wifi service is available throughout the village of Yachats. We find best reception outside the Library on 7th Ave, or in the fabulous Green Salmon Coffee Shop.
Cell phone coverage along the Oregon Coast is patchy, and varies by carrier. Please make sure you have noted directions and access details before you arrive at the cottage.
Yachats has a wonderful ability to relax and rejuvenate you. In our cottage we've tried to create a space that allows you to relax, feel and absorb that energy. You can hear the wind in the trees, and the surf on the rocks. If you are listening. Is it low tide or high tide?

Yachats, Oregon, Stany Zjednoczone

The cottage is on NE Forest Hill St which is a short, uphill sloping road ending at the Siuslaw National Forest with miles of elk trails through the enchanting spruce forest.
It is well set back off the road, and faces into the extraordinary Gerdemann Botanic Preserve. The Preserve is a peaceful sanctuary for wildlife, nature and people so please respect and enjoy it. Boisterous parties or barky dogs are not appropriate.
The cottage to the west is unoccupied, and the shed to the east is also unused, making our cottage a very private location with views of mature shrubs.
Beach access is 5 minutes walk away downhill from the cottage.
National Forest trails are a 2 minutes walk uphill.
The Yachats area has numerous access points to the oceanfront via State and National Parks.
Several fine craft galleries - Touchstone, Earthworks & Wave Gallery - are within 2 mins walk, just to the South on Hwy 101.
The fun town of Yachats - with free community wifi - is just a mile down the road.
The cliffs of Cape Perpetua to the south are unmissable on a clear day.
Free community wifi is available throughout the village of Yachats. We find best reception outside the library or in the fabulous Green Salmon Coffee Shop.
There is internet service/wifi at the cottage, and moderate cell service so you may be able to access the internet via your mobile device also.

Karen and I are in love with the rural Skagit Valley, where the tulips and the cedars grow. We have worked and lived there since 1999, entranced by the chorus of frogs at night, birdsong in the morning, and the eagles screeching in the cedars. But when we are seeking relaxation and rejuvenation we head for our cottage in Yachats, on the beautiful central Oregon coast. Since 1991 we have worked at our own company, Wild Works Ltd., which is a creative metalworking partnership intended to bring beauty to dull household accents - such as light switch covers. You can visit our website at wildworksltd. Feeling pride of work, and seeing beauty, in even the most functional of household objects, enriches the experience of our daily lives. Both of us love to travel so naturally we met whilst travelling. We found each other in 1988, in a dingy bar in Nairobi, and spent the next four months traveling back to London, camping out on the plains, jungles and deserts. Yachats is the place we found ourselves returning to again and again so eventually we bought a 1940's wood cutters cottage there. Jonathan spent five months remodeling and now it's the ideal coastal home we dreamt of. Our cottage is comfortable, bright, and filled with handmade things that will bring joy to your daily life. We would love to share our home and the amazing Oregon Coast with you. See you soon we hope. Be well. Jonathan and Karen

Jonathan or Karen will be available via phone or e-mail but we do not live there. The house is yours to relax in, and it's very private. The neighbors building to the east is unused. The house to the west very rarely has residents.
There are motion activated lights outside the front door, on the garage, and wood shed for your convenience.
We hope you have a great time interacting with this amazing coastal environment. It's dark at night; you may hear elk crashing about. The sound of the Ocean is always present. Feel it's energy. Listen carefully and you can tell the difference between high and low tides. Smell the moist, salty air.
We hope you enjoy your time here. Please feel free to call us with any questions or concerns. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
