Miejsce
Crow's Nest Cottage is sunny, spacious, very clean, with a large, open, combination living-dining-kitchen area. The large deck is perfect for family relaxation and outdoor living. Crow's Nest is a perfect, shingle-sided, Maine island cottage. The cottage sits on a grassy knoll looking out at a 17-acre wildlife pond. One of many satisfied guests wrote, "This week was exactly what we needed! This house is just perfect - -thank you for all the amazing touches that make it feel like home! Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us. This is a gem on the crown of an amazing secret of an island. We loved every minute!"

Perfect and roomy for a couple, comfortable for 4 people, still comfy for a family of 5. Crow's Nest has the island-wide, high-speed Broadband Internet service but no air conditioning, no dish washer, no cable TV. Who needs those anyway when you are on an island and time slows down?!

10% DISCOUNT FOR A TWO WEEK STAY. 15% FOR A THREE WEEK STAY. (EACH WEEK STARTS ON A SATURDAY AND ENDS ON A SATURDAY.) Please note that the rate INCLUDES 9% lodging tax for the State of Maine.

This is a place that 'time forgot.' Think 19th century Vermont transported to an island in the ocean. The high-speed Internet will get you back into the 21st century whenever you want.

Guests frequently tell us that our cottage has everything they need to feel at home away from home. One family said, "this is by far the best equipped rental house we have ever stayed in! They provided everything one could imagine needing!"

Crow's Nest Cottage is an easy 20 minutes by ferry off the gorgeous Maine coast. It's located at the northern, rural end of legendary Islesboro Island, considered by many the most beautiful of all Maine islands. The cottage faces the Meadow Pond, a quiet, lush refuge for deer, birds, ducks, turtles, beaver, and other wildlife.

Crow's Nest sleeps 4 comfortably in the 2 bedrooms; the living room has a Queen-size futon for a 5th adult or your teenager. We have a MAXIMUM LIMIT of 5 PEOPLE. Many quiet beaches are minutes away by car. The cottage has a marvelous, large deck. This is a SMOKE-FREE home. NO PETS PLEASE.

The cottage's spacious, light-filled bathroom has an old-fashioned tub with hand-held shower unit. We do NOT have a conventional stand-up shower.

Islesboro is a very quiet vacation spot. If you are looking for tranquility, for peace and quiet, and a "low-key" vacation spot, you'll love Islesboro Island and Crow's Nest Cottage. If you are looking for lots of restaurant options, movie theaters, amusement parks, bars, fast food, shopping, and crowds, this is NOT a place for you.

You need a car on the island to get to the 2 small grocery stores, to the ice cream parlor and cafe, for speedy trips to the local beaches, hiking trails, tennis courts, and public playgrounds, and to get to the ferry. Bring bikes!

The island has hundreds of secluded and hidden coves and beaches within a 5 - 15 minute drive from the cottage. Some island beaches are sandy, others are gravelly or rocky. They are all magnificent. Explore them on foot or kayak. Pack picnic lunches or suppers and play Robinson Crusoe on your "private" island. Pick up a shellfish permit at the Town Hall and go collect mussels at low tide for a fabulous supper. If you love the splendor of the Atlantic Ocean and wild Maine coast without droves of tourists, Islesboro is your place. One guest exclaimed, "What an amazing week we had! We spent countless hours walking on so many beaches! We collected so many shells and sea glass, they will be our priceless treasure forever - - so great!"

The cottage has a spacious kitchen with everything you might need, whether you're steaming lobsters or baking a pie. (The Island Market has delicious take-out, if you don't want to cook! Or eat at the Community Center!). Comfy down comforters for cool nights, a large collection of DVDs and VHS tapes, dozens of books (including kids' books), lots of board games, a large deck, comfy sofas, comfy beds - - everything you need to relax and enjoy a perfect island vacation. We have lots of blankets and pillows for your use, but ask that you bring your own bed sheets (Queen and Full) and towels, if possible.

Although we do not supply bikes or kayaks, they are available for rent on the mainland from a variety of companies. Our 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ) on our personal website provides contact information for these rental places. Or ask us for a copy of the FAQ.

Explore the nearby coast: the famous Mid-coast Maine villages of Camden, Rockland and Belfast are minutes from where the Islesboro ferry lands, in Lincolnville. These villages have many shops, epic restaurants, great book stores, food stores, antique shops, public libraries, museums, and energetic waterfronts full of beautiful old and new boats. Schooners for day tripping are berthed in Camden Harbor. Drive a few minutes south from Camden to Rockland where you can spend several happy hours at the renowned Farnsworth Art Museum. The Farnsworth is home to the Wyeth Center, one of only two centers in the country dedicated to the three generations of Wyeths: N.C., Andrew, and James Wyeth.

Crows Nest Cottage is located “up-island” and looks across to the 17 acre, fresh water, Meadow Pond. The pond, across the road from the cottage, is a refuge for deer, eagles, other birds, turtles, beaver, and other wildlife. It’s not a swimming pond.

WHAT DO WE DO ON THE ISLAND ?
Awesome beach combing, walking, hiking, bike riding, swimming (real cold water that warms up later in the summer and is delicious on a hot day), kayaking, tennis (at the public courts), sailing (at Big Tree Beach), digging for clams and gathering mussels, enjoying historic architecture, photography, bird watching, reading books you’ve been meaning to read all year, relaxing on our 400 square foot deck, and not doing anything at all. There are two fun public children's playgrounds on the island, a great little public library with programs, and a variety of evening lectures and programs. There’s a Community Center with lots of activities and a Café. At the cottage we’ve left maps showing you some of our favorite beaches and walks. Also read our Guest Book on our personal website to find inspiration from what our other guests did (or didn’t to…).

About Giovanna and David Peebles: We are a Vermont family who are delighted to share our very special island cottage with you! Purchased in 2005, we spent over a year doing major renovations, including building the large laundry room/mud room and the 400 square foot deck. We have proudly shared Crow's Nest Cottage since 2006 with over one hundred families. Their testimonials (see our own website maineislandhouserental) speak loudly about their wonderful memories of perfect vacations at Crow's Nest Cottage. We hope you'll be one of those families. Giovanna and David chose Islesboro Island because it is magical, a place that time forgot in the ocean. In 2005, we fell in love with this cottage since we knew we could fix it up into a perfect island get-away. We love its location on a breezy knoll, the privacy, the light that pours in from many windows, its spaciousness, and the large deck we built. We love everything about it! Many of our guests tell us that Crow's Nest Cottage and Islesboro Island have given them one of their most relaxing, family vacations ever. There is something very special about our cottage and the island that slows down time and contributes to a unique vacation.
