Shared spaces include the gardens and lawns around the cottage as well as the private-entry hot tub spa room in Mountain House (the property’s main house).

Rose of Sharon Cottage guest spaces include a two-car parking area, a picnic lawn directly adjacent the pond, and the cottage’s own shale patio under the hemlock pines.

The land on which our home and cottage sit is very private; we’re surrounded by hundreds of acres held in conservation by the Upper Valley Land Trust.

We're minutes to the breathtaking White River for summer swims and floats. Only 5 minutes to the town of Sharon and Exit 2 on the Vermont I-89.

__Snow Sports!__
We’re excited to share the wonders of winter here in Vermont! For those looking to book a place for snow sport, we’ve made a list of resorts in Vermont and New Hampshire that Beforest Gardens is a suitable home-base to visit:
https://abnb.me/LCEkl2cJ70

__At-a-Glance Drive Times__
• 5 minutes to Sharon, our small town, located at Exit 2 on I-89
• 13 minutes to South Royalton, home of the prestigious Vermont Law School
• 17 minutes to Norwich, VT; 19 minutes to King Arthur Flour in Norwich
• 20 minutes to West Lebanon, NH
• 21 minutes to Hanover, NH, home of Dartmouth College
• 30 minutes to Woodstock, VT
• 50 minutes to Killington and Pico Mountain
• 1 hour 15 minutes to Burlington, VT
• 1 hour 20 minutes to Brattleboro, VT
• 1 hour 30 minutes to Manchester, VT
• 2 - 3 hours from the greater Boston area
• 3 hours to Albany, NY area
• 5 hours to New York City

__Winter / Spring Arrivals__
Please be advised that our road is unpaved and certain winter and spring arrivals may require an all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle with snow tires.

March-April is Vermont’s Mud Season. Depending on the weather and amount of snow melt, our road can become quite thick with mud. Deep ruts mean some smaller cars with low road clearance are not suitable for our road during this time. However, even most mid-winter days have seen guests with compact cars make it up the mountain just fine. It all depends on the weather which we will gladly keep you abreast of!

At any rate, don’t let the weather slow you at the final five minutes of your journey to us! See the Getting Around section regarding a ride in, if needed. Hosting is our full-time job so we are on-call at all hours to provide transportation.

Inne ważne rzeczy
__Our Mission__
Beforest Gardens mini-farm is home to your hosts, Coley and Eric, two very enthusiastic forest gardeners. You’ll also notice another very small tiny house nestled in our sheep pasture which is the home of our friend and local schoolteacher, Fallon. Our farm is also home to all of the other creatures that make this ecosystem possible! We love to share our passion for building healthy soil and growing food in a three-dimensional architecture, at every level of the food forest! If you’re interested learning more or participating in the good work on the farm, please let us know. We are always glad and grateful to team up. <3

Begin, become, beyond, Beforest.

__Welcome!__
Here, you will be welcomed as one of the family. Upon your arrival, you may look forward to a gift of the farm’s bounty; perhaps eggs from our dear chickens, warm baked goods from our kitchen or, seasonally, a variety of fresh herbs and veg from the surrounding gardens!

__Ecology__
We’re honored to work with the natural systems all around us here at Beforest Gardens. When you stay at the cottage, your food scraps help feed the farm’s flock of chickens! Your used bits of paper become next year’s healthy soil that feeds fruit and nut trees right here in the gardens. We also do our best to tread lightly on the Earth, providing guests the very best in recycled paper products in the cottage.

We are a RESIST PLASTIC homestead. Please try your very best to leave single-use plastic at the store. All tap water on the farm is fresh from our own mountain spring and we provide reusable containers of all kinds for your adventures! Let us all endeavor to be better Earth stewards than we were before.

__Communication__
Beforest Gardens mini-farm is a busy place with just about every moment of the day filled to the brim with hard work and exuberant activity! Your messages to us with an accurate arrival time are invaluable to us as hosts. Don’t be shy; there is no such thing as over-communicating, so please message as often as possible to keep us posted! (Even a small window of 15 minutes allows us to do farm chores and add additional touches for your stay so time is of the essence.)

Also, please ask for anything you may need during your stay. We want you to be comfortable.

The best way to reach us is through Airbnb messages or by our listed home phone number.

__The Real All-Inclusive Stay__
Our doors are open to all persons regardless of background, sexual orientation, or gender identity. This is an LGBTQIAPK-friendly household which celebrates sex-positivity. <3

You will love the peace and quiet of our little nook in the Vermont mountains. We like to say we’re conveniently located off the beaten path, being neither too close nor too far from the hustle and bustle of neighboring towns.

At night, the stars are oh-so-bright and the only sounds you’ll hear are the birds and wind in the trees. And yet, we’re just 16 minutes to the lovely town of Norwich, VT on the New Hampshire border and 20 minutes to Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Our favorite nearby towns are South Royalton, home of the prestigious Vermont Law School (13 minutes away), and Woodstock, VT (30 minutes away) which certainly must be one of the most picturesque places in all of New England.

I'm a UX designer, woodland wanderer, and forest gardener. At our Vermont mini-farm, my partner Eric and I specialize in regenerative agriculture and are working on creating a three-acre demonstration site where these ecological techniques will be on display for all to see. My favorite things: • creating immersive experiences that help people tap into to their wild human nature selves • teaching the benefits of growing food in forests. We can eat good food AND sink carbon at the same time?! yes! ^_^ • cooking with forest-grown delicacies • building and crafting with locally-sourced materials • exploring the beauties of Vermont I run on good hard data, music, and photosynthesis.
