Augill Castle : much better than a hotel : unlike anywhere you have ever stayed before. In Cumbria's Eden Valley between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, England's two most popular national parks, Augill is set in it's own twenty acres of grounds. Easy going, relaxed but still ridiculously romantic and decadently comfortable. We'll do everything we can to make you feel as if you have arrived as guests, and will leave as friends.

Miejsce
The ORANGERY is on the ground floor outside the main castle, with huge arched gothic windows opening onto your own secluded garden and the castle gardens beyond. There is a modern open top four poster bed, stunning bronze wall and fabulous contemporary bathroom, and a connecting day room has a French style metal day bed which opens as two full sized singles.

Requests can be made for a particular room but we reserve the ability to move you between these rooms to accommodate other guests.

Augill Castle sits in the geographical centre of the British Isles in the stunning countryside of the Eden Valley. Sitting at the foot of the Pennines and surrounded by the Lakeland Fells and Yorkshire Dales, the castle has 15 acres of wild gardens, lawns, paddocks and flower beds. It is the ultimate English gentleman's retreat. Built as a folly by an eccentric man, the castle is a fine essay in Victorian castle building.

The castle started life as a Victorian gentleman's folly built in 1841. It is our home with our children Oliver & Emily, (plus Maisie the Cocker Spaniel). We run it as a quirky, quietly groovy sort of place to stay. We began hosting back in 1998 as a way to pay for the renovation of this beautiful building. It's a real family home which welcomes guests to stay for a night or two, have supper or dinner, party or even get married. A seriously relaxed place - no false formality, but a place where you can kick off your shoes by the front door without causing a scandal! It is an old building with small doorways and corridors but all ground floor guest areas are disabled friendly and there are two ground floor bedrooms - one with full wheelchair access. Our rates quoted are per room per night for a room for two people. We also have a listing for hiring the whole castle. All our rooms are very different and individually priced so you may find the rate changes if you request specific rooms or dates. Extra beds, afternoon tea (available each day between 1 & 6 pm by arrangement), supper (Sunday, Monday & Thursday) dinner (Friday & Saturday), wine & drinks (from our Great British honesty bar), laundry etc are all charged in addition.

W trakcie pobytu
Wendy & Simon Bennett bought Augill as a wreck in 1997 and have poured their combined love, eye for detail and artistic talent into it, returning this lovely Victorian castle to its former glory. Furnished with a collection of new and old, the castle has been their home and continues life as a real antidote to the banal and bland that is so often found in historic house conversions.

Staying at Augill Castle has been likened to walking into the arms of a giant hug. It is warm, comfortable and special. Luxury here means the freedom to enjoy the whole castle at your own pace.
