CLOSE TO the EDEN PROJECT

The Mill is the ground floor of Bojea Mill. Although the building has four floors in total the ground floor is the only occupied area - the floor above is a party floor which we use for family clebrations when we have no guests staying.
Visit at any time of the year and enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer.
Perfect for long walks - with or without a dog - wrapping up warm in the winter - superb dining opportunities...

AND stay in The Mill which is the ground floor of Bojea Mill. The building was a corn mill, with a water wheel powered by water from the River Vinnick. However, the wheel is long gone together with most of the mill machinery. We welcome you to our home...

TRAVEL TO CORNWALL for the weekend - under 5 hours on the train from Paddington or an easy drive. Relax in the Mill or explore the local area, go swimming on the south coast or surfing on the north coast, walk the coastal footpath, go beachcombing, trek the moors, visit THE EDEN PROJECT or THE LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN - The choice is yours!
Any time is a perfect time to visit
- deserted beaches in the spring and autumn - mild weather, wonderful walks along the coastal paths, perhaps the opportunity to sit in the sun on one of the special Cornish beaches, or try your hand at surfing, sailing, kayaking, coasteering, windsurfing - all this plus the haven of The Mill to return to in the evenings. Cook in or eat out - The choice is yours!
DOGS ARE WELCOME HERE! Walk straight from the door onto the surrounding trails - or even to Eden - or explore the local beaches - a dog's delight! A small charge of £15 for each animal per stay is made for your pet and please let us know if you are bringing your pet with you BEFORE you book.
THE EDEN PROJECT
The time to enjoy this world renowned project - spend the day learning about our dependence on plants and marvel at this amazing site - be inspired and learn to connect with others in new ways.

THE MILL is a former corn mill which was water driven, but the water course was diverted some time ago. It now offers a spectacular space with stone walls and massive wooden beams supported by cast iron pillars. There are comfortable beds in TWO en suite bedrooms, a sofa which converts to a small double plus a further sofa made for curling up in with a good book, modern kitchen equipment and an enclosed garden. Perfect for one or two couples, friends or a family group of up to 6 (using a convertible sofa in the sitting room and/or a cot in one of the bedrooms). One bedroom has a king size double, the other two twin beds. If you require both rooms made as doubles please let us know at time of booking.
The sitting room is large and spacious and offers the space for relaxing, playing games or watching tv or a dvd.
Keep in touch using the free wifi (which is generally fairly reliable but we are unable to always guarantee this due to our rural position)! or do some research to make the best possible use of your time here.
There is a small enclosed garden area immediately adjacent to the Mill with another 3 acres of grounds to walk through and with direct access onto the miles of nearby trails which are used by walkers, cyclists and horseriders but these trails are unlit and mainly rough surfaced and steep in places. Enjoy a leisurely walk to the Eden Project (4 miles or about an hour or two) or to the South Coast at Pentewan and Mevagissey along the miles of trails which criss cross the surrounding area.

We are only too happy to suggest outings for our guests, quiet beaches, good walks, dog friendly areas, places to eat, the nearest shops, cheapest fuel, but the Mill is your home for you to enjoy for the duration of your stay.

The Mill is an old building and we have retained the exposed granite walls in places out of respect for the origins of the building - it does NOT have a modern, plastered interior with double glazed, plastic windows but it DOES have enormous character and atmosphere.
The beams are immense as they carried the weight of vast quantities of corn and these beams are supported by cast iron pillars which were made locally at Charlestown and there are gigantic pieces of granite in the walls, still showing evidence of oil stains from when the bearings of the cogs and wheels needed frequent greasing. This is not to the detriment of the building - its just a bit of its past history.

We have many different species of birds visiting us throughout the year (the dawn chorus is quite loud!) and plenty of wildlife in the vicinity. In the spring you can walk amongst the bluebells, and later in the year enjoy the foxgloves. There is a riverside stroll which leads onto the trails. You may be lucky enough to spot some deer, or maybe a fox or badger and the last few summers an otter was spotted!

The main line railway station is at St. Austell, just over a mile away. Local car hire firms will deliver a hire car direct to the station by prior arrangement. The airport at Newquay is within easy reach and it is possible to hire a car from there. Ferries travel from Plymouth (about 40 miles away) to France (Roskoff, Britanny).

OUR OTHER PROPERTY - THE SIPHON, is a converted railway carriage sleeping up to six people - this is about 1/4 mile away along the former track of the old railway - and gives the opportunity of accommodating groups of up to 14 people between the two sites. Perfect for two or three families, a wedding group or a group of friends. The Siphon now has a wood burning stove to keep guests warm during the colder months.

PLEASE NOTE: DURING PEAK PERIODS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (Easter and July and August and the Christmas period) THERE IS A MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD OF Three DAYS but at other times the minimum booking period is two days.

Our guests will have sole use of the Mill's ground floor - a large area!
The small enclosed garden area with parking.
Access onto miles of trails (leading to The Eden Project, The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the South coast at Pentewan).

As much or as little as our guests desire...we are happy to give advice on places to visit. Just let us know what works best for you!

Public transport in Cornwall has its limitations!
The main line train service covers the County right down to Penzance with branch lines serving Looe, falmouth, Newquay and St. Ives. However, we would always recommend having a car at your disposal - whether you drive down or travel down by train and then rent a car - this way you will be able to enjoy your visit and see so much more.
Please be aware of the dog restrictions on some Cornish beaches - a list is in the Mill.
OR perhaps VISIT THE EDEN PROJECT..
What about a special dining experience?
Rick Stein (Padstow), Jamie Oliver 15 (Watergate Bay), Nathan Outlaw (Port Isaac) and Paul Ainsworth (Padstow) all have restaurants not too far away plus dozens more to choose from for truly memorable meals.
Make your stay a gastronomic one!

We live in Cornwall with an assortment of much loved pets - two spaniels: JCJ and Millie, Big Grey Cat or BG, various ducks, chickens, some sheep and an assortment of equines, mostly quite aged. We really enjoy hosting through Airbnb and want to share our home with our guests and help them to enjoy and love Cornwall as much as we do, having been born and bred here. Our favourite place is St. Just in West Cornwall but due to business commitments we actually live for most of the time just outside St. Austell in Mid Cornwall. We are always happy to help with any problems, give advice, suggest beaches to visit, where to buy fresh Cornish produce (and the best Cornish pasties!) and, hopefully, ensure that you have a wonderful holiday or break in Cornwall. We hope to introduce you to some Cornish food: in addition to pasties there is saffron cake, Cornish clotted cream (with scones and jam and the cream always on the top!) wonderful, freshly caught fish, Cornish gingerbread biscuits and so much more! Our household is a busy one: so many animals, family coming and going, and our home to prepare for each and every one of our guests - we hope that every guest will enjoy their stay and return with happy memories of their stay in this beautiful County.
