Co będziecie robić

This experience starts late afternoon so you can be enthralled by beautiful KL lit up at night.

This is a Food Adventure (F&B included EXCEPT at The Row) with History & Culture thrown in the mix. Walk with me to find out why Chow Kit & Kampong Baru straddles both the Old World & the New ever so effortlessly.

Chow Kit is a quaint neighbourhood bustling with activities. Chow Kit Market will test all your senses of smell, taste & sights & sound. Old Chow Kit was a seedy area associated with activities akin to red-lights mentioned in the “World of Suzie Wong” including opium dens & gambling joints.

Kampung Baru means “New Village”. This rustic enclave is a closed-knitted community of Malays who have lived here for generations. Standing stubborn against modernisation, they have clung to their heritage & traditions.

Our Walkabout experience will amaze visitors with typical scenes of traditional Malay houses, Mosque, street stalls & shops, old trades & eateries that give Kampong Baru a distinctive Malay identity & a showcase of authentic Malay culture in the city.

From Kampong Baru, we shall walk across the sensational new Saloma Bridge & head to see the iconic Petronas Twins Tower lit up & from there we head to The Row KL where the tour ends. At The Row, you shall have your own time for the rest of the evening to enjoy on your own.

I am a freelance Licensed Tour Guide. Left the rat race in the Corporate World to be a freelancer. Called Kuala Lumpur (KL) home since 1983. However, I have been exploring KL & Klang Valley since my student days in 1972. Witnessed how some things have changed & how some have stood the test of time.

I am a very proud Anak Merdeka Malaya - a Malaysian born in the year of Independence of Malaya ( as Malaysia was then known). I grew up with friends of all races & ethnic groups. I am thus familiar with the diversity of culture - a multi-racial Malaya that is now Malaysia, Truly Asia.

Gdzie będziecie

Kampong Baru is the Malay heartland peppered with traditional Malay houses on stilts, some with intricate wood carvings. Some houses around 100 years old are still home to the descendants. Evenings see the village streets turned into a busy food, fruits & vegetable market.

Chow Kit neighbourhood

I will take you to The Row KL where our tour ends. At The Row, you have a choice of fresco dining, pubs & cafes to spend the rest of your evening.

This was my first tour of Kuala Lumpur and the mix of old and new was wonderful. Chin is very personable. Had both history and current knowledge to share. He really cares about creating a memorable experience. He was very prepared. I had a great time every step of the way!

Go. I cannot give enough praise to Chin Lea. Chin Lea took me around and showed me old and new. We had great discussions, he answered every question and shared a lifetime of knoweldge and understanding. History, the economy, present day KL, and of course food, and fun. I have already shared his contact with a few friends thinking of heading to KL. Chin Lea thank you for your time, I hope to come back and learn more from you again.
