Co będziecie robić

First, we'll start and see the highlight of the Gion area, checking out the must see look into the "old town Kyoto". After walking through this Geisha district (where there's a possibility of seeing a real Geisha), I would like to step away from the more busy streets, walking through alleys to nearby Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, where I would like to talk about the history and significance of both.
Next, I would like to walk up a path leading into an iconic sight of Kyoto, a picturesque view of both new and old.
Finally, I would like to go to my favorite shrine, to talk about the history, but also my personal memories of the place.
Soon across the street, we will be back at the original meeting place, where I would like to send you off into the city with recommendations of nearby places for restaurants, bars, or whatever you may be looking for!
Other things to note
The focus of this experience to enjoy the traditional sights of Kyoto, such as paper lanterns by older buildings. For this, we will walk during night, when most shops will be closed.

Hello! My name's Julian, I'm half-Japanese, and the first of my family to be born in the States. Although I've been hopping back and forth many times between the two, the home I returned to has always been Kyoto, to my grandma's shop and home, in the Gion area.
8 Years ago, I decided to make the move to permanently live in Kyoto, at the same traditional shop and home that's been passed down for generations since 1862.

I fell in love with this city, and I would like to share the same feeling to you, explaining the sights, history, culture, but also neighborhood gossip as well!

Gdzie będziecie

The places we will go to will be the more traditional side of Kyoto. Starting at one of Kyoto's Geisha district, where there may be a possibility of seeing a geisha, then moving to other parts of Kyoto that keep the sense and style of old time Japan.

Very detailed information on Shinto, Buddhism, and Geisha- lots of talking points which was great for us because we knew nothing going into it- if you already knew a lot about these topics would be less interesting. Lots of facts more than personal. Glad that we did this, and can interpret other sites. Julian was very conscientious: answered all questions, made sure we knew local rules, made sure we could use washrooms if needed, and chance to snack along the way, gave us opportunity to participate in shrine prayer but didn’t pressure us in any way.

What a wonderful tour of Gion and the surrounding shrines. Julien have a very informative tour with great background on the Geisha and Shinto aspects of Kyoto. I appreciate getting factual knowledge and clarification of many Western misconceptions of this culture. Highly recommended.

This was the perfect evening tour. It started later than many of the other evening tours which meant I didn't have to cut off my sightseeing or rush through dinner. The tour was amazing. We saw things I never would have found on my own and Julian really helped me understand Japanese culture and history. I learned so much, and I thought it was already relatively knowledgeable. Julian answered every question I threw at him and broke things down in a very easy to understand way. I highly recommend this tour. You'll get to see some great parts if the city at night without all the other crowds of tourists and grab some amazing pictures.

This is a great way to spend one of your nights in Kyoto. It's a must for those who want to know more about geisha, the Gion district, shinto, and Japanese culture in general. Julian's storytelling really pulls you in and gives you a different perspective on the sights that you would normally see during the day. Going on this night tour also gives you the advantage of having picture-perfect shots. It was also an easygoing tour, and you're free to ask questions anytime.
