Co będziecie robić

Love hiking? Love history? Love haunted tales? My guided, 4-5 mile hike (*length of hike can be easily adjusted based on group) through scenic Rockefeller Park along the majestic Hudson River is the perfect combination! Depending on the season, we may pass farm animals connected with a nearby 5 star, farm-to-table restaurant, experience color bursts of fall foliage, or see a spectacular peony garden gifted to the preserve by the Japanese after 9/11. Along the way I will regale you with stories involving the history of the area, which includes espionage during the Revolutionary War, the story behind the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and you will see the famous Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where Washington Irving is among many famous people interred there, and area hauntings. We will stop to rest as needed and picnic (weather permitting) overlooking the Hudson River midway through. We will get to know one another and I look forward to hearing about where everyone is from!

The hike begins and ends at the entrance to the park, but guests may join me afterward at one of the oldest bars in Westchester, dating back to Prohibition. This former speakeasy is steps away from the Pleasantville Metro North train station and guests will be entertained with its rich history. A fine way to end our adventure!

As a NY certified teacher of history with over 25 years experience, I’m a history nerd, especially Revolutionary War. I am also a natural storyteller and published author. Combine all that with my love of hiking, and you’ve got yourself a hiking and history tour guide! I’m also Covid vaccinated.

Gdzie będziecie

Rockefeller Park, located just 40 miles north of New York City, covers thousands of sweeping acres along the Hudson River, within which are historical sites. The views are breathtaking every season of the year, but spring, summer, and fall are my favorites. There are dozens of trails and an experienced guide is very helpful in making the most of your experience. It took me many years to hike all the trails and find the treasures of each.

Really wonderful hike thru Rockefeller State Park. Beautiful location, wonderful spot for lunch overlooking the Hudson!! A great way to spend a fall weekend. Super guide, Miriam is very knowledgable about the area and other local attractions. ( and for the over 40 set ( which I am)..be ready to go up some hills :-)

Beautiful scenery and lots of cool history knowledge shared. Miriam is a fun and engaging host. Hike was a solid one, from this non-hiker's perspective. I do recommend athletic wear, hiking boots or sneakers, and socks to cover your ankles.

We had a lovely walk at this beautiful location. Miriam was knowledgable about the trail system and took us on a great 5 mile loop with a nice lunch. She provided snippets of interesting history of the area.

Beautiful hike revealing areas I had not stumbled upon even after being in the area for many years. Great tales of local history woven in seamlessly with the hike, and entertaining ghost stories as well. Highly recommended for all ages.

Miriam is really nice and friendly. She is very knowledgeable about the area we were hiking through, and had endless stories and tales to share with us during the hike. We stopped for lunch at a beautiful view of the Hudson river. Her schedule is flexible, and we actually requested a different time and day than she had listed, and she was able to accommodate us. Lunch was good, but unfortunately she wasn't able to take us out for the drink due to her schedule.
