We will stop at Amarante for a quick visit to the old part of the city. Time to know you better having a cofee and tasting the famous conventual sweets in a wonderful river scenery. The tour proceeds to Mateus Palace in the city of Vila Real. You will learn the story of the palace and enjoy walking and taking pictures in the charming old gardens. We will have lunch at Favaios, a small village in the upper Douro region. You will have the opportunity to taste different portuguese dishes and drink the famous Douro white, red and fortified wines. After lunch I will take you to visit the estate wine cellars. Our journey continues downhill to Pinhão, always surrounded by the breathtaking Douro Valley landscapes, where you will experience a Douro river cruise in a typical Rabelo boat to contemplate the world heritage beauty of the Douro Valley vineyards. It is now time to return. For 17 miles we will drive along the Douro river in one of the most beautiful roads in the world!
