Co będziecie robić

With a history of over 160 years, Chinatown is one of NYC’s oldest neighborhoods. Experience Chinatown through the intimate lens of the Chinese Exclusion Act, the first U.S. law that banned an entire ethnic group from coming into this country for more than 60 years. Through our immersive tour, you’ll discover the dark origins of the neighborhood, hear stories of assimilation and sacrifice, and learn about the challenges that Chinese-Americans continue to face in pursuit of the American Dream.

Our journey through time begins at the statue of Lin Ze Xu, where you’ll learn about why the Chinese first came to America. Then, we’ll take you through the winding streets of Chinatown and show you the historical eateries, shops, and institutions that have shaped this community over the years. Learn about how this discriminatory law impacted these early immigrants and gave rise to the laundry, restaurant, and garment industries. We’ll end the tour by discussing the far-reaching effects of the Chinese Exclusion Act on the present-day immigrant experience and share our personal stories growing up as second-generation Chinese-Americans.

Whether you’ve come to Chinatown for years or it’s your first time, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of this storied neighborhood.

Took many walking tours throughout the city this last trip. While they were all terrific, Chloe's tour was one of the highlights of my entire trip. Historically it is important to learn more about what is seldom covered in the classroom. The Chinese immigration experience, the Chinese Exclusion Act, the history of Manhattan's Chinatown in pre and post pandemic times, the story behind the recent art murals on buildings, the shops and restaurants that have been owned by the same families for generations. Chloe does a wonderful job of weaving family stories, history, laws, trivia, photographs--all while walking and stopping at significant sites , statues, buildings, or to show photographs on her ipad. You do not have to be Chinese to appreciate this tour. It is for anyone who is interested in history, culture. After Chloe's tour, we visited the Tenement Museum within walking distance. I highly recommend doing both. Thank you Chloe, this passion project of yours is a truly a gem. And thank you so much for being available to accomodate our family. A+++

Wonderful Tour that we all enjoyed. Informative and flowed well. We left a little more learned and filled with empathy of the sacrifices of so many. Highly recommend.

Informative, thoughtful, and fun. I learned a lot about the history of Chinatown and some of the cool initiatives that are happening now during covid to keep the community thriving. I would 10/10 recommend this to everyone I know.

Chloe was a wonderful host in taking us around locations in Chinatown. Despite me growing up and walking around Chinatown in the past as a student, I have a deeper appreciation for the culture of some locations and about how the younger generation is bringing Chinatown to a "modern" state. I definitely learned more about the culture and history of Chinese in the US and am excited to help support more AAPI efforts too!

Don't miss the chance to learn from these fascinating folks! Great connection of how some of the terrible prejudice of the 1890's is really not so different than today's reality.
