Co będziecie robić

This unique three-part, 3 hours, walking tour will begin where Manhattan began - at the National Museum of the American Indian. Each part of the tour will last approximately 1 hour. This first leg of the tour will start in Lower Manhattan. Specifically, Bowling Green, where the first enslaved Africans started building the infrastructure of the city, and end at Wall St when the enslaved Africans were brought and sold.
The second leg of the tour will start in the Financial District. We will walk up Wall St to Federal Hall - a site next to a famous free African who owned and operated a famous Oyster House in 1825.
The last leg will start around the Brooklyn Bridge, including the African Burial Ground National Monument plaza.
This tour is great for groups, team-building, field trips, and it's especially beneficial for school-age children.
Depending on the mood and convenience of the group we can stop for snacks, at any time.
Each location is based on a specific chapter in my book. There will be several restroom breaks.
Please note - Finding parking is extremely difficult in Lower Manhattan. Indoor garages will cost between $35-40. I advise using public transportation or car service.

Greetings! I'm a native New Yorker, a self-published author of the book, "You Are Here - A Geographical History of Enslaved and Free Africans in Manhattan: 1613 - 1865," and a certified NYC tour guide. For the past 2 years, I've given presentations about my book at schools and community organizations. I've lived in all five boroughs of NYC, but I claim Manhattan. I've worked in Manhattan as a Paralegal for over 20 years, I was educated here, I've visited most of NYC's museums, I've partied and experienced the nightlife here, and I survived the 9/11 tragedy at the WTC. This city, past & present represents my soul's work; I would like to share my love for the city with this fascinating African American tour of NYC.

Gdzie będziecie

This fun-filled educational tour will cover the areas south of Brooklyn Bridge and the areas east of Broadway. Some of the sites on this tour are famous, i.e. Brooklyn Bridge, Federal Hall, Fraunces Tavern, South Street Seaport, etc. and some are lesser-known. However, out of the 20 sites, they all have a connection with African American history that few people are aware of - this is what makes this tour unique.

This tour was informative, well organized and rich in content. Our group was a family of four, ages 23 to 83. We were all absorbed in Larry's presentation and the material resonated with each of us. Each stop in the tour was special. Larry presented important historical material in a gracious, engaging and interactive way. A wonderful experience!

Lawrence knows so much about New York and its early history, and shows so much passion about the things he talks about! It was a rainy day and he brought me an umbrella so I didn't get all soaked up. I'm so happy to have taken the tour because it's truly an eye-opening experience and I enjoyed it a lot. Highly recommend!

It was a pleasure meeting Lawrence. He was very personable and filled with a wealth of information. We learned so much about the African American experience from the 1600s - 1800s in NYC. Larry also made reference to his book that he has written about this topic which I am looking forward to reading. I'm looking forward to going on his next tour when I'm in NYC again. The next tour that Larry is organizing is one about Harlem and the African American experience. I can't wait. Thank you Larry for an unforgettable day.

Unlike most New York walking tours, Larry show you hidden culture that many residents and visitors don’t know exists. His tour was full of diversity and is great for all age groups. Don’t hesitate to book and learn something about African American, American, New York, and Dutch history. You won’t be disappointed!
