Your cycling adventure starts in the historic town centre. I will make sure everyone feels comfortable with their bikes and shortly brief you about what you can expect. You will ride in a small group at a relaxed pace.
Utrecht has much to offer. Following quiet paths and alleyways we will make our way through Utrecht, showing you many interest sights and telling great stories.
Nevertheless, I will take you off the beaten track. On the outskirts of town, we will stop at the forts of Lunetten. Here I will tell you all about the New Dutch Waterline, our largest national monument nominated for Unesco’s world heritage list. As we continue, I will show you group shelters and explore other forts as well.
However, it is not only about forts and history. You will ride in the green countryside with imposing farmhouses, rich flora & fauna and great views. You might see a hare, barnacle goose, kingfisher, or even a roe deer. Depending on its opening hours, we can visit an eco-friendly farm.
About halfway, we’ll take a coffee break at a picturesque location near the water. This place is often visited by locals, but foreigners are rarely seen. Toilet facilities are available here.
On our way back, I will show you some impressive examples of early 20th-century architecture, such as the Rietveld Schröder House (Unesco). After nearly 25km and 4hrs, we’ll be back where it all started.
